Ed came early in the morning with his assistant to install the shower pan and side panels. It had been such a long time when we chose the panel pattern that I held my breath as it went up.
It was OK.
They put in the shower pan first. I was concerned (and stressed) when I saw the boxy corners. I could imagine mold and crud getting trapped there.
But no... apparently they then added some sort of strip to smooth out the corners so no caulking or grout would need to be applied.
After that, it was time for Art and me to apply one of the two final coats to the other walls. And no... I wasn't having fun. I think Art likes the challenge. I was constantly caulking or spackling and sanding and painting the grooves between the redwood panels.
The electricians would be coming the following day.
Fingers crossed 🤞 nothing goes wrong.
Thanks for sharing the project. We are going to be doing the same project soon and it is making me so nervous. Will be so glad when it is finished.

ReplyDeleteBathroom remodeling always takes much longer than I think it should. There are a lot of steps that must be completed, sometimes in a particular order, to make it all work.
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: You’re right. It does get a LOT worse with a lot more horrors before it starts to improve. Right now, I think I have more white hairs than I did over a month ago. It’s been one headache after another… after this initial optimism.

DeleteWhat is the shower pan/stall made of? Acrylic panels, corian? Easy care - that is the most important. And please tell Art that he looks so cute smiling for the camera.
ReplyDeleteApparently it's sort of like Corian. It's called Staron. And ummm... when the plumber installed the faucet, I noticed two cracks in the back splash. I hope I survive this without losing all my hair from the stress too.
