Java Sparrow

I was bemoaning the fact that I couldn't think of anything to post today. I've been trying to see how long I can go trying to post something everyday. It's been a challenge. I was going to post about our weather which was rather weird yesterday, but Art said, "boooorrrring." (Kindly, mind you.) I thought that blanket of dark clouds slowly covering our part of the island was interesting. For all that covering, I was able to walk between the raindrops that fell. It did rain last night... but never mind...

Anyway when I opened our front door to get the morning newspaper, this Java Sparrow was sitting there.

That was rather strange because they are very quick birds and should have flown away as soon as I opened the door.

While I stood there, the bird took a hop and fell over onto its back and stayed there like a turtle unable to right itself. I called Art and my mother and we watched helplessly wondering what we should do.

After finally wiggling to its feet again it tried to find something to eat, but there's nothing there (Remember how I got rid of the ants?) so I got some bread and tossed it over.

When I tossed the bread crumbs, it startled the bird enough that it flew over to the Desert Rose plant.

It then stayed there for the longest time and let me know that it would wait until I got my camera. It let me come as close as about three feet away from him. I snapped a bunch of photos and when I was done, flew off as though it was perfectly fine.

What a strange morning.

Okeedokee, I'm done for Friday! Have a great weekend, everybody!

Now then, what I shall I write about tomorrow? Sigh.......
