Java Sparrow

I was bemoaning the fact that I couldn't think of anything to post today. I've been trying to see how long I can go trying to post something everyday. It's been a challenge. I was going to post about our weather which was rather weird yesterday, but Art said, "boooorrrring." (Kindly, mind you.) I thought that blanket of dark clouds slowly covering our part of the island was interesting. For all that covering, I was able to walk between the raindrops that fell. It did rain last night... but never mind...

Anyway when I opened our front door to get the morning newspaper, this Java Sparrow was sitting there.

That was rather strange because they are very quick birds and should have flown away as soon as I opened the door.

While I stood there, the bird took a hop and fell over onto its back and stayed there like a turtle unable to right itself. I called Art and my mother and we watched helplessly wondering what we should do.

After finally wiggling to its feet again it tried to find something to eat, but there's nothing there (Remember how I got rid of the ants?) so I got some bread and tossed it over.

When I tossed the bread crumbs, it startled the bird enough that it flew over to the Desert Rose plant.

It then stayed there for the longest time and let me know that it would wait until I got my camera. It let me come as close as about three feet away from him. I snapped a bunch of photos and when I was done, flew off as though it was perfectly fine.

What a strange morning.

Okeedokee, I'm done for Friday! Have a great weekend, everybody!

Now then, what I shall I write about tomorrow? Sigh.......

  1. Kay! In your time of need you were blessed by a visit from Bloggiel, the angel of stymied bloggers!

Can you send the winged creature over to me tonight?

(Although I think your dramatic sky would have made a great post on its own. [Begging to differ with Art.])

  2. This post is fine, Kay. Love the photos.

Why don't you write about the past since you are scanning old pics? That would be super interesting.

  4. Amazing, Kay. I call those things "God moments" but everyone has different ways of expressing these wonderful happenings. I like Dina's "Bloggiel, the angel of stymied bloggers"!
The Java Sparrow is adorable. I hope I see one when we're in Hawaii in December. Meanwhile, I hope this little fellow is okay. Turning turtle doesn't sound like a bird sort of thing to do. Let us know if it decides to live at your house.

  5. you can take a day off posting you know-it's your blog. Somedays there isn't as much to write about. I write again about a week sometimes and schedule the posts for a certain day. Then I can relax and not worry in between or daily. Or just write that there is absolutely nothing happening in your life that day then go have an adventure-take a walk, hike, or shop. You live in paradise and it is beautiful there....

  8. Cool bird, funny story.
I have decided NOT to post every day, but then again it depends on if I have anything worthwhile.

  9. That is one smart Java Sparrow. I wonder how many yummies he collects from different homes with that little act? ;)

  12. Maybe this little bird was caught in that storm cloud, buffeted around so much that he was just plain tired. Then a kind lady came by and sustained him enough that he regained his energy :)

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I’m using Comment Moderation for any post that is more than a day old because of aggravating SPAM. Therefore, if your comment does not go up on an older (more than a day old) post, it's because I need to OK it first. I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
