Here's the Bradley guys who haven't seen each other in about 40 years.
The wives got to chat together in the kitchen. I had such fun meeting and getting to know them. We shared parenting war stories.
The guys had a blast recalling memories of leaving Hawaii so many years ago for the mysterious, exciting Mainland. Everyone stayed until well after 11:00 and we went to bed after midnight. I feel like I have a hang-over this morning, but we all had such a great time.
I love Hawaii parties. It's generally pot luck and very casual. I never have to ask anyone to remove their shoes and everyone pitches in to help. At the end of the party everybody takes home food for the next day's meal. We still have a ton of food left over so we're inviting my brother and sister-in-law for dinner tonight.
HOWEVER: Would you believe I found a pair of night stands on Craigslist (before I went to bed last night) so we're going to look at it today to see if we might be able to use them next to our new-old bed. We'll see...
POSTSCRIPT: Well... We went to see the night stands but didn't buy them. They just weren't of very good quality. Oh shucks! Back to the drawing board.
Kay, did you belong to a sorority at UH? I wish I had, but I was too busy working in Gartley Hall, Psychology Dept.
ReplyDeleteDavid and I will be attending a class reunion at UH on May 22 -- an all day thing with dinner on the lawn outside Hawaii Hall at sunset. Looking forward to it.
Kay,looks like a very fun evening! I hope the nightstands were just what you wanted! I also hope they aren't as much work as the bed-LOL!!

Sounds like a wonderful gathering. It must of been fun to have the wives come along as well. And about the nightstands...did they meet your needs and hopefully were in pristine shape :)
ReplyDeleteWow that looks like fun--I love parties but we haven't had any for ages, for lots of reasons. I'll just look forward to bringing those back again someday when the kids (and house) get bigger.

ReplyDeleteI also wanted to tell you that your new header is gorgeous and reminded me of my wonderful trip to the Keukenhof Tulip Gardens. What a fabulous place!

Gigi: No, I didn't join a sorority. I guess none of my friends were in one and it wasn't the big thing to do on the UH campus. I stayed at Hale Kahawai dormitory and that was enough sorority for me.

you are having too much fun and great food with reunion after reunion and partying all the time-no wonder you're tired...LOL
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a treat to read! I'm glad you all had a nice time and got a chance to visit with each other. The meal sounds delicious and looks even better than it sounds. Everybody looks so happy, that's nice. I thought I was the only one who felt "hung-over" after a late night. LOL

What a lovely get-together. Christopher is still in touch with several of the men that he went to school with and we all meet up about twice a year. That's always great fun too.

Hi there, belated Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too, I enjoyed reading your post on your celebrations and am always in awe of how committed people are to having Irish food - probably more so than we do here! I lived abroad and we always celebrated it totally over the top, with embassy parties etc. If you visit my blog you will see where we lived, and am curious to see your photos of Holland as hubby is Dutch!
