When it rains....it pours....

Doggone it!

When Sam and Keiko were here yesterday, our outlet in the kitchen suddenly died. It's the outlet where our microwave is hooked up.

We called the electrician. He'll be here on Monday.

$$$$

Today, my mother called out frantically that she found termite poop under the back door. My brother came and helped Art take the door down to check it. They agreed it needs to be replaced.

I just sent an e-mail to a contractor for a new door.

$$$$

Arrrrrghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

  1. Oh dear, what a pain - well that's two down, just one to go!

  2. Glad your mom saw the poop and knew it meant trouble before the termites took over.
    Good luck with your troubles.

  3. Oh no; sorry to hear that--as if you're not busy enough with things!

Your Mom has sharp eyes, noticing the myna nest and now termites; I have to wonder if I ever would have noticed either, in time to do something.

  4. Kay, I'm so sorry for all those things happening! I hope it doesn't cost as much as you think.

  6. I've been enjoying reading your blog the past few weeks, I found you on Lilly's blog community.

Sorry to hear about the troubles.

I love the pic of your cute little granddaughter.

  8. Hate that. Luckily I have an in-house electrician! Got up Friday morning, 5:30, opened the garage door to get the paper and it was a whirring and grinding. Oops...broken. $410 later, we have a new one.

  9. Sorry about the troubles. Of course it would be inevitable that it would happen when you have company! I know it sounds corny, but "every cloud has a silver lining". Hope you find your cloud-ASAP! And how is the myna bird situation??

  10. When we found termite droppings in the garage, we had Xtermco inspect the entire house. We then hired them to tent and fumigate the house and garage last year. They offer a free 5 year warranty.

We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village during the fumigation. Had dinner with Cloudia at Bombay Restaurant. It was pleasant!

  11. Thank you, everybody! And Gigi, thank you for the nudge to get the house inspected and maybe fumigated. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That might be the "silver lining", Cheryl. This will force us to get the house really checked and maybe tented before we get really serious damage. It's just that tenting is such a hassle. Arrghhh!

    Frustrated? Who, me?

And the Bird Wars? I'm afraid to say it, but Art may have won. Maybe... I'm afraid to say it because once I do, they might decide to give it one more battle try.

  12. It does seem like it's always something and that something always costs money! Sorry, you've had these along with company and your foot to boot -- forgive the pun! Hope next week is better with no additional outgoing $$$$!

  13. You are right on the $$$ with "When It Rains, It Pours!" It's a sad fact, that's the way it usually happens. It would be nice (and is it asking too much) if one thing broke-down, and six months or a year passed before something else went on the blink.

This is cute, "He'll be here on Monday. $$$$" I will have to borrow that the next time $$$signs loom in my forecast.

  15. Blessings....
$39 per person! There were 5 of you as indicated in your photo so that’s almost $200! ($195.00) not including tax and gratuity, Good Lord it’s cheaper to cook and invite friends over and still have enough to rent and movie and have a party night!

I hope you let the restaurant manager know discretly of course about the dissatisfaction of the meal. If one has to pay those prices they need to ensure that the meal is fantastic.

Well there was a blessing in the storm of it all, great company. Have a great day.

  16. Oh, that is just awful about the termites, along with everything else that has gone wrong, all at once, it seems!
How is your foot? Glad you had a great visit!
