My new niece takes the time to really speak to my mother, always making eye contact with love, interest and respect in her voice. I've heard her telling mom how delicious each dish is and how much she appreciates the hard work in preparation time that is involved in making them. This is all music to my ears because I know how very much it means to my mother. My niece also offers to bring something she prepared as well and then takes over the clean up. What a joy! My nephew deserves a lot of credit for choosing such a wonderful wife but then again, he's always been such a sweetie that I should have expected nothing less from him. The photo is of my mother with my nephew and niece at their wedding last year.
My sister-in-law Pat is the same way with my mother. She is a family asset. If only my brother were alive and well today. How perfect life would be.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo! I love it. Maybe I say this an awful lot, Kay, but you are SO blessed and lucky in your family. It always makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I think your entire family is sweet! You have a close-knit family and it seems that you all enjoy being together and sharing your lives as much as possible. So of course your sweet nephew would marry a sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteA very nice photo of the newlyweds with your mom.
don't you love family like that. I bet she is more respectful coming from Japan rather than being an american-I think we have lost lots of our good manners and courtesy over the years.
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy looking couple. Very handsome!
ReplyDeleteYour Mom must love her too!
As Susan says, you are very blessed and you are a blessing to everyone that you meet and care about!

ReplyDeleteLovely photo Kay..What a lovely thing it is to take the time to honor someone's efforts.. You don't see that anymore..how sad that we used to be a much more polite society... sigh...
ReplyDeleteKay, in getting to know you and your kindness and compassion, I am not at all surprised to hear those same things about your family. You are blessed, but I don't believe it was luck. I believe you all worked for it. Enjoy your blessings.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading about your family. It was nice of you to pay such loving tribute to your niece, she sounds like a wonderful person and respects others. I hope your nephew had a nice birthday and thanks for coming by.
ReplyDeleteThere is a great deal of respect shown, especially in public, or used to be, for older folks, and teachers. I understand some of that has been lost in the cities but the countryside it is still common.
ReplyDeleteI am happy for your family that your family feels complete with the new niece. Wonderful post.
Beautiful family photo too.
