My aunt shared some roses with us and I took a photo of a blossom. My flash went off by mistake and I got this photo with my iPhone. It darkened the background and gave the rose a somewhat porcelain look and turned the other roses green.
Here's the actual rose.
I tried the watercolor effect first on Photoshop.
Then I tried the poster edges. It gave it a sort of pen and ink look to it.
This Photoshop filter is called plastic wrap.
Then I tried the crosshatch brush strokes. I rather liked this effect the best.
Art says he likes the original rose best. I think it's fun playing with the different media effects. One of these days I'll have to get my brother over here to teach me a few more tricks.

Its beautiful! What fun you had!!
ReplyDeleteI like them all except for the plastic wrap effect. Roses shouldn't be treated like that. I enjoy learning about new tricks with Photoshop, which of course I don't use any more. I now use a much easier program called Pixelmator. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have photoshop but I use another one to do artistic effects
ReplyDeleteThey are all beautiful! My favourite are number 2 and 3 from the top.
ReplyDeleteNow that looks like fun. I took a Photshop class years ago and remember it being hard and confusing. I think they were trying to cram too much into the time we had and did not give us enough "play" time.
ReplyDeleteI was most taken by the plastic wrap effect. Loved them all actually.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. I need to use Photoshop more.
ReplyDeleteThe actual rose is really beautiful, but it is fun to see all the things you can do with the photo.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun changing the rose. I think wedding photographers are doing these kinds of options, too. Reminds me that an arcade photo booth at Dave 'N Busters could produce characterized pics of people's faces. DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteplaying around is the way to learn...lol! love the different effects!
ReplyDeleteThe second and the fourth ones are my favorites, but they are all quite nice.
ReplyDeleteI am with Art though the last one is a close second best. I really need to experiment like that. Fun effects.
ReplyDeleteLovely. I like the first rose best…sere with Art. I believe we cannot improve on nature. Dianne
ReplyDeleteIt is fun isn't it..... I am keeping up...not always commenting.... Michelle
ReplyDeletePlaying around with photographs can be fun, but I'm with Art. I like the real thing best. Your first photo is very good.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun exploring!

i LOVE the original the best, as i am not much of an editor!!
ReplyDeletethe last one is pretty as well!!
I love this. I want to learn how to use this program. I don't have it on my computer now, but I hope to buy it soon. I love the first photo, but I also have to agree that the last one is really nice. The first photo is actually quite amazing and does have a porcelain look that makes it frame worthy. Have you thought of enlarging it, framing it, and hanging it on the wall?
