My daughter, Tif in Illinois sent me some text photos that finally did actually amaze me.
I've seen lots of snow in the Chicagoland area when we lived there, but I must say, this is a LOT.
Yes, this photo was pretty astonishing, but the next photos really made me open my eyes wide.
This is a view of the driveway. How did they ever toss the snow up so high?
Tif said her friend, Andy did come by and help with their snow blower, but she went out later and really cleaned it up. Andy saw her doing it and asked why she was being so meticulous.
We then got the text from Tif saying, "Thanks A LOT, Dad! It's all your fault that I'm so anal about shoveling snow."

This winter has been ICKY! Global warming seems to mean global SNOW lately!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing amount of snow, and I agree: how in the world did it get piled so high? Even with a snow blower... Wow!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't get anywhere near the amount of snow that Chicago got, but there were some piles on the sides of the driveway and next to the mailbox. A couple of days of nice weather this week caused them to melt. (HALLELUIAH!)
ReplyDeleteI saw the headline, "49 states out of 50 have snow now," meaning that Florida is the only state without snow.

Wow. It must be dark in the front room with all those mountains obstructing the light.

ReplyDeleteThose are definite trenches! The mailman and visitors are glad Tif is meticulous. Keeps everyone safer than if snow is left to pack and refreeze into an ice layer. Hooray for Tif's upbringing! Fewer broken bones!

My son-in-law doesn't want to use salt because he's afraid it will kill the grass (just like Art).
DeleteYikes! So much melts and refreezes into 3-foot long icicles over my steps, I've used something to treat the concrete, and still haven't killed any grass. What's killed some grass was the snow piled for so long in the yard.
DeleteThey make "grass-safe" stuff to treat with, and some that's pet-safe for pets' paws. (But pets are still supposed to have their feet washed/wiped.)
My elderly neighbor wanted to protect his new concrete, and I got them some plain sand to use, so his elderly wife didn't fall going out to get the morning paper!

DeleteOn Israel TV news they said there is so much snow in America this winter that the big municipalities have run out of salt and none is available.
It is amazing how much snow some have had this winter!!! I had similar photos pf a friends driveway in Bend, Oregon. We had a little deep snow for a couple of days, but nothing like this and fortunately that was all -- hopefully no more!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my, yes, that's a lot of snow. My cousin Tom is doing that at age 84 up in Milwaukee. I'm so grateful G and I live here.

Living there one couldn't have any shrubs along the driveway or sidewalk. Anything under those mounds of snow would be crushed!

So much snow! Here, we don't have snow so I am always in awe when I see snow in photos.

DeleteKeola did enjoy both Singapore and Malaysia very much. In fact, I think he spent more time visiting Malaysia because Singapore was so expensive.
DeleteThat is a whole lot of snow. We had to have bucket loaders and trucks take some away from our driveway one year. Someone told me that Florida is the only state that did not have snow this year.

DeleteArt certainly did a great job of teaching Tif the proper way of clearing a driveway! Having lived in South Dakota and clearing my fair share of driveways and sidewalks (occasionally doing that back in the Pacific Northwest also), I don't miss that part of enjoying a good snow fall in the neighborhood.

ReplyDeleteYour top photo could as well have been taken in our driveway. Looks just like that. The banks got so high beside our son's drive that his snow blower couldn't throw it up high enough to clear the top. Ah, but spring is just around some corner.
