The last few days have been quite chilly. Well... chilly by our standards. Art checked the temperature and it read 62 degrees. Let's tack on a wind chill and who knows? It might have been in the high 50 degree F (10 Celsius) area.
This is the first time in seven years we've lived here that I've actually worn long pants (not counting when I'm on the way to the airport to board a plane.)
I sent this text photo to my daughter who immediately sent a photo back to me of her snow covered driveway in Illinois.
I sent a message back saying, "You win."
I then went downstairs and cooked up a huge pot of chicken soup.

I had heard that even Hawaii is colder than normal. I'll take yours over your daughter's any day! :-)

ReplyDeleteWe all wore our coats to the zoo yesterday. Some of the animals were inside due to the low temperatures. We only got to 56 degrees yesterday. Lots of frost every morning.
oh Kay, best put another log on the fire lol!! Its 25 below today here, thats Fahrenheit! Enjoy the soup!

The first year I came to Florida for the winter, i laughed at the way people bundled up when it got cold--in the 50's and the news would offer warnings to take in all your pets and cover up the plants. Now I keep a warm hat, mittens, and a couple of heavier jackets here just in case. I have not had to use them yet this year, but winter is not over yet.
ReplyDeleteAnd you know what? No one back home in Vermont ever has the slightest bit of sympathy for me if I complain about a cold spell and temps in the 50's.

ReplyDeleteWe got to 64 here in the Mid-Atlantic yesterday. Warmer than you! But it was still jacket weather.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. When I lived in Florida I never got any sympathy from my northern friends for " cold" days. People don't realize we have thin blood in the tropics and feel it much more.

ReplyDeleteKay, how funny...she wins! Having lived in Illinois, I have no doubt it's a bit chilly there right now. I look forward to the days of sandals...it's pretty chilly in Texas as well.

ReplyDeleteWhen I can't wear my flip-flips inside because it's 8 degrees outside, I know it's really winter around K.C.. You're still in socks inside sandals in your long pants photo. I must be in my fluffy L.L.Bean sheepskin ankle-high slippers to stay warm. Got up to 23 with some fake sun today, and it felt pretty good. But I prefer Hawaii. Try some of Mom's sake. DrumMajor

ReplyDeleteIt was 63 F in my kitchen this a.m. But we don't have heat, and so we have to bundle up until in gets into the 70s, which it always does.
ReplyDeleteIt actually got under 60 F over here. I don't think I've ever felt it this cold here. It was even colder in the middle of the night.
DeleteI never thought it would be that cold in Hawaii Kay. We will be getting our first dusting of snow tomorrow. I may be making chicken soup also.
ReplyDeleteIt did get cold like this on the Big Island, but I've never felt it like this on Oahu before. It is cooler in winter here, but not like this. To be honest, I'm rather enjoying it, but don't tell mom.
