My friend, Myrtle sent me a video of Kahuku High School's 2015 awesome graduation ceremony. Kahuku is on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. We just saw in the Star Advertiser morning paper that this video has already scored over 2 million views!
Toward the end of this 10 minute video, you can see the graduating class doing a Maori haka (war dance). I'll bet it was the football team.
I must say my graduation ceremony was nothing like this and certainly neither were my kids' high school graduations. It looks like so much fun! The haka part was on the TV news a couple of nights ago.
If you have 10 minutes to spare, I think this might bring back some high school memories.

ReplyDeleteSo much fun for the graduates! I just attended my granddaughter's wedding, and it was nothing like this one. They probably aren't even counting the hits from your blog! Imagine the planning that went into this.

That video was a lot of fun! My graduating class had more then 700 students. I don't think it would have been possible to get everyone together to do something like that.
ReplyDeleteMy high school would never allow something like that to happen. "it's a distraction" they would say. Security at my graduation flipped out when someone set off fireworks even though they were obviously set off behind school property

DeleteThose kids are all so coordinated, and their movements were so well synchronized. Not a klutz in that bunch!

ReplyDeleteI don't believe this is necessarily a common sort of graduation. That's why it was in the news. I wish I could have been there.
DeleteMy daughter is teaching there for over 10 years! When she started she was only like 22 years old and taught senior English class the first year. She still brings 'homework' home (to grade)...I think it is really hard job!

How exciting that she teaches there. She must enjoy these graduations all the time then. Teaching is hard work and exhausting, but so very rewarding. You always feel like you are contributing to society.

ReplyDeleteWe had a teacher exchange where I was supply teaching. The teacher taught her students a war dance and we invited the embassy peeps. It was an amazing time.
