Mall Walking With Zumba Buddies

Zumba is on a summer hiatus for half of June and into July. Our recreation center is being used for summer school.

This presented a problem for the Zumba Buddies. We all felt that we needed to keep exercising, but didn't want to get up before sunrise to walk outside. Besides, one of the motivating factors for our exercising is being able to spend time together and we don't live close by.

After much discussion, we decided to try mall walking at 7:30 in the morning before the shops were open. Believe it or not, walking briskly for an hour had us sweating, but we never felt bored.

It was interesting to see quite a few other seniors who were doing the same thing.  However, there were about nine of us and we were the biggest group. There was much conversation, much laughter and much fun.

I must admit that after the exercise we did stop at Starbucks and put some calories back on. We then spent another hour or more just chatting at the food court.

Final conclusion: We're going to make this a weekly outing.

  3. Mall walking is becoming popular here as well - early hours here as well which is shame. Lots of window shopping as well - shame it's just too early to drive that far for me. Easy way not to miss meeting your friends and you'll have fun - same as you do any other week.
I'm also one who has been disgnosed with hearing loss and doesn't want to admit it lol I have no idea of the system for claiming benefits for your (USA) personnel works but British and Australilan ex Forces (military) have to prove their hearing loss is the result of what they did during their years of service.

  5. It's very common to see that in our malls too. Though I usually never get to the mall when it opens

  7. Haven't been able to leave a comment after clicking on "Publish" with my Name/URL for the last few days. Maybe it is my computer.

Hmmm. Never mind, it seems to work now.

  9. I did some mall walking once when I had an early morning dental appointment and then had to wait to do some mall shopping afterwards. I was impressed with the crowd. It is a good option for those who can't do the heat of summer or (in VT) the cold and ice of winter.

  10. There's lots of mall walking here. Are your Malls open or enclosed? We need an enclosed mall for winter.

  11. I have only done mall walking when I was recovering from back surgery, but I think there are lots of folks who do it. It is going to be very hot here for a while so we will have to see how we can get walking back into our routine.

  13. Glad you're finding ways to get your daily steps in. I know what you mean about sweating, just walking around at a brisk pace. :-)

  14. Wish we had a mall near by. My brother and sister in law do it with a group all summer to keep in shape. Keep up the great work.
