Bringing the Past Into Light

I was going through some photos I had scanned a while ago of all our family photos and came across a few precious ones that were so dark that you couldn't make them out. I still scanned them because unlike this digital age where we have thousands of photos of our grandchildren, we have too few of our children when they were little some decades ago before desktop computers, digital cameras and Photoshop.




I found myself tearing when Photoshop revealed my little Tiffany when she was about two years old. It made me want to carry her again.

Sigh...

I know I can't bring back the past, but I'm glad I can once again look at a little more of it.

    Do you have a digital photo frame? You really should get one for your desk or some prominent place of viewing in your home. I keep all the beloved family photos on mine (one at work, one at home), so I get to see all the great photos and relive the moments daily. It makes me SO happy, and I'd love for you to enjoy one too.

    It's fabulous that you could reboot them. I've got a really dark picture of my family when I was 15. Even with photoshop it didn't lighten. Shame. I remember taking the picture without a flash in a dark hospital ward. We'd taken my grandmother a birthday cake.

    A great job you did indeed, Kay!! I love these!! My daughter-in-law was going through some of our old family pics and she found one in particular, framed it and brought it to me -- a photo of me holding my youngest son, Adam, when he was five months old!! Such a fun look back!! Hope you have a great new week!!

    I feel exactly as you do, Kay. If we could carry them and have them sit on our laps forever, and kiss their not-yet-stinky toes at night... Such wonderful memories of our children as little ones.

    I heard of PhotoShop though I don't have it, but these results are great! Hmmm. Not sure if I am ready to learn a new program and tricks. Maybe after the house is in order (which may be a LONG time coming).

    She's so cute, and wonderful you can I improve the photos so much with new technology. Photos are a wonderful thing for hanging on to sweet memories of the past.

    Pictures are certainly taken more now than back then. We pictures cost us per take, we made sure it was a good picture. You didn't take five of the same shot to pick the best version.

    Today's technology is awesome! I was going through my wedding photos the other day and encountered the same problems. I will try to restore them. What a cute little girl! Love the smile!

      I'm not at home right now but I believe my scanner is the Epson v500.

      It's several years old now but still works great. It's for scanning photos, documents, slides, etc.
