Once back in Maryland, we got to spend a lot of quality time with our son, his wife and our precious grandson. It was extra special because it was the first time that KC had actually met her new cousin. It was special for Tiffany to cuddle her brother's son for the first time. To everyone's delight we found that little JD loved KC. He was fascinated by her and she was the one who could always make him smile and laugh.
One of Keola and Sarah's passions is wall climbing. KC had tried it before, but hadn't been able to get to the top. It was too frightening. Tiffany was amazed at what a great teacher her brother was. He instructed KC on safety and proper climbing techniques. She was soon scaling the walls with confidence and actually made it to the top 6 times!
And yes! Of course Art wanted to try it too!
He went up 3 times and was exhilarated and exhausted.
Tiffany and me? Ummmm... We watched JD. Besides, I was recovering from a back injury. That's my excuse and I stand by it.

You are a brave bunch.
ReplyDeleteI could probably do it, but I am afraid to try.
ReplyDeletewow, your family is amazing. I don't clilmb walls either...just the thought makes me shiver...lol!
ReplyDeleteThey are an adventurous bunch! Good for KC I think she learned a life skill!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy your family is Kay. I have seen these walls on a smaller scale. I have no head for heights and would have stayed on the ground. KC is very brave Hope your back feels 100% real soon.
ReplyDeleteI have climbed those walls and they are fun! When I lived in Colorado, I was once upon a time a real rock climber! It was so long ago now, but I would still go up one of those walls. Congratulations to all who ascended. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy grandkids would enjoy that wall, too.
ReplyDeleteOh my, these athletic folks wear me out. Glad you're having quality time with grandson.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked most places have the 2 person rope system. I remember climbing rock walls at malls and events with the automatic rope system. So fun to let go and have it gently let you down
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed in your family!
ReplyDeleteIt is great to have a nice family
ReplyDeleteI tried it once . . . didn't get very far though. LOL!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fascinating. I have a grandson who is so accomplished he climbs at outdoor climbing sites in several states. And, he's 14.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for the cousins to meet and get to know each other... Your Art is unbelievable. Seems as if he will try anything... Glad he could do it.... Glad KC made it to the top this time (several times)... AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful trip east for you all... Sorry it has been so hot and muggy.... We have had a horribly hot and dry summer here in TN.
Hugs,
Betsy
So wonderful how your grandchildren bonded! Smart of you to opt out of rock climbing - I would have sat with you in the shade.
ReplyDeleteRock climbing has become very popular with regular people. the sport has been made accessible to them.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to hear about this family time together, with your grands getting to meet and bond, and your son and daughter getting to share time and family and you getting to watch it all.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fun - I've never tried it but I expect one needs strong fingers.
ReplyDeleteOur son told us you have to try to use your legs as much as possible.
DeleteHow cute that the cousins are bonding so well. A lifetime of caring is budding. Wow, that is the tallest climbing wall I've ever seen. Always wanted to try when I was younger, too late now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get everyone together at last. I note that although my daughters live close to each other, they tend not to have family gatherings unless we are in town. They are just so busy!
ReplyDeleteThere is a rock climbing place within walking distance of our condo in Seattle. We are happy just to walk by it!
You are very funny! I love your posts!
