A long, long while back my brother, Dennis and his wife, Nancy took a trip to the East coast and brought back a glass mug from Cheers (the Boston pub) for mom. Mom didn't use it because it was a bit big and heavy for her. When we moved back to Hawaii, I fell in love with it.
It was the perfect size for my morning mocha.
I even wrote a post using a photo of the mug on this blog.
Sigh...
The other morning Art noticed something awful. I think I've mentioned before that I'm farsighted, while he's near sighted. He can see these things.
There was a crack in the mug! Argghh! How can that be? I took such good care of it. It doesn't even go in the dishwasher. The crack circled almost 75% of the way around the bottom of the mug.
On the positive side.... I guess...
We could take a trip to Boston and get another one someday or I can find another mug about the same size on one of our trips. It's always fun to search for something.
Hmmm... I wonder if our granddaughter, KC has seen Boston yet. There's a lot of important, interesting, wonderful places to see there. Hmmmm....

ReplyDeleteI had friends near Jerusalem who never poured hot liquid into a glass container while it was sitting on the always-cool marble kitchen counter. Always a pad or something under it, to lessen the sudden shock. I myself witnessed what happened when someone forgot. One victim was a thick made in America glass mug.
Pretty sure if you google 'Cheers Bar glass mug', you can find an online store to purchase a new one from. :) (I hope, for you!)
