I went to the post office to mail a flat rate box and saw a long, long, long line snaking out the door.
I'd already gone online to address, pay and make a shipping label for my box so I was able to walk past everybody to drop it off in a bin.
When I turned around to leave, I saw everyone was staring at me incredulously.
I told them, "I did it online."
To which they all nodded and one woman smiled and said, "Thank you." I imagine a lot of them will now be looking into doing the same thing.
It really does make life a lot simpler and I'm really trying to simplify the holiday.

And you can be updated automatically so you know where it is and the recipient will also know it's coming.

ReplyDeleteI have to weigh everything of mine. We have a tiny one right near our house. The hours are horrible, but as long as you're available to be there at the time, it's no real line. Nobody outside the community knows it exists

ReplyDeleteMe too, Kay! I only had one package to mail and I did it online. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I did the flat rate box, and I was shocked at how fast my nephew got it. I dropped off the box at the post office on Saturday and it was delivered to his office in San Francisco on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Maybe I'll try this option. I usually use the self service machines but it can be anguishing when someone is ahead of me and they take forever or have a lot of packages and let their grandchild "learn" the ropes. Bah! humbug! I don't like the holidays.

ReplyDeleteI usually use the automated kiosk to mail packages. Works great when lines are long.
ReplyDeleteI don't have to mail packages anymore, unless maybe something I ordered on line that I have to return, but for that I have a pre-printed, postage free label ready to go. Good to know about flat rate boxes though.
