I know people on the mainland think Hawaii is always warm. Not true. We do have those rare occasions when the temperatures actually dip quite low.
Last week my clock/barometer showed me I needed to add a thicker blanket.
And it's been cool all week which frankly, I really liked.
Art checked the thermometer outside the house which confirmed what the clock said.
It was 69 degrees inside the house which is actually quite cool because we don't have heaters or wall insulation in Hawaii.
Mom covered herself with a down lap comforter that my daughter, Tiffany had sent a while ago.
No, mom is not suffering. She knows that in just a little while the weather will change and we could be sweltering again.
Tiffany tells me I can just count my blessings that we're not having to deal with snow and ice.
So true.

69 is about where we keep our temperature during winter (lower at night), but I do usually wear a fairly thick sweater. Sue runs at a higher base temperature than I, so we both get along at this rate.

ReplyDeleteWe keep our indoor temperature in the winter at 64°F and just add clothing to keep warm. It's truly what you get accustomed to, and when it's 69 inside, I'm too hot! Glad Mom has that down comforter. I sleep under one and love it. :-)

ReplyDeleteYes, my friend on your island said that they had to close the Pali do to a land slide from the rain! My other friend sent a photo of a tree that went down on the beach where he lives at Pokai Bay. Rought weather down that way.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's absolutely true. It was really scary and some people were badly hurt, I believe. We saw some downed trees too. Weather was pretty ferocious these last few days. Art was really lucky yesterday.

ReplyDeleteYeah, no heaters is really surprising. We have been freezing here in California. I cannot imagine not having heat.
ReplyDeleteI have a heat pump, and when temps get low, it wastes energy. My house is set at 60F, we have a space heater we use for when it gets real cold and we can keep the room warm enough.

ReplyDeleteI remember being in Hawaii a long time ago, between Christmas and New Years, and the locals were complaining about it being cold. We thought it was just right for a mild summer day.
