That white noise machine we bought has made a difference for us. The other night there was a dog barking next door for HOURS. The sound of the rainstorm from the machine enabled us to get to sleep.
However... now Art was staring at the machine and worried about the dust getting in through the holes.
Sooooo.... after thinking about it, I got the box it came in and decided to use the bottom for a cover.
The bottom was not pretty so I got some scrapbooking paper that my daughter had given me a few years ago and used it to cover the box.
Aha! Then I thought I'd use the left over wood sealer from that wicker basket I repaired a while ago and coated the cover.
Ummm... that did cause the paper to ripple a little, but it just gave it more of a woven look so I was OK with that.
Art is happy the machine can be protected when not in use and I'm happy he's happy.

Great idea and pretty paper as well, my husband is having trouble sleeping in hospital and is using an ap on his phone for white noise, it’s a rain ap and he woke up the other night half asleep hearing the rain thinking he should shut the window lol the nurses thought it was so funny when he told them lol,,

ReplyDeleteYou folks are certainly detail people!! Does the machine make it such that you could not hear noises you would need to hear? Does it turn off automatically?
ReplyDeleteNo, I can still hearing other sounds, but the white noise maker sort of muffles the annoying sound so that I can sleep easier. It will turn off automatically to the timer selection you choose.

ReplyDeleteOk, first I thought it was a cover for the machine all the time. I see it's just for when it's not in use. Wonder how the sea air and humidity affect the mechanics of the machine.
If you want to be really hard-of-hearing, try cotton in your ears, or buy ear plugs at the drug store. The soft spongy ones are used during the noisy MRI exams.
