What Day Is It?

I keep forgetting what day of the week it is. Have you had that problem?

We had a lovely schedule that kept everything in order. Monday and Friday was my Zumba days. Tuesday was our Open (farmers) market, doctor visit days. Wednesday was our special day to walk with friends. Thursday was our tai chi day. Friday was the day Art did his Meals on Wheels. Saturday was a chore day. Sunday was a day of relaxation for Art when he could read the newspaper cover to cover for 2-3 hours. Now the paper is so thin, he can finish in half the time.

And so I keep forgetting what day it is. It’s quite disconcerting. I wonder when we’ll all get back on schedule again.

We're in the same boat but as long as I wake in the morning I'm happy.:)

  2. Yes, Thursday would be our day for meeting friends for coffee. The last meetup was 5 weeks ago. We dithered about it that day but went ahead with it. We shut down completely the next day, and so we remain.

  3. I get a notice from my Google calendar in email each morning. It says you have nothing scheduled. I have another calendar hanging above my computer. The pictures are of granddaughters the calendar has everything crossed off that was on there. except for Zoom rendezvous. I have one coming tomorrow, yeah!

  4. I usually have to check the computer calendar several times a week. I think these worrisome, days with no set schedule of things to do or places to go is making me forgetful. I had been thinking about making some type of large, tear off the page each day calendar, but then I realized I most likely would forget to tear the page of each day, or maybe tear two pages off in one day, so I continue to stick with the computer. Strange times we are in.

  5. Each day when I awake, I try to figure out what day of the week it is. It is getting harder to do that, and then during the day I forget and have to figure it out all over again. I'm never sure of the actual date.

  6. Yes, exactly! Even when I figure it out, I might have to figure it out again later. I remember that Mike once remarked about isn't it funny that even being retired we are so aware that it's the weekend. No more with the virus added to retirement!

  8. I have a calendar on my frig where I write down our menu for each day since there are no activities. My hubby has stopped asking me what do you have planned for today...lol! My answer might be pizza, hamburgers or burritos.

  10. We are in for a long time of this. I just read where the military is making plans to keep this up into the fall, and beyond. California's governor is looking ahead, too, but figuring it will be years in the making to bring us out of this. Perhaps Hawaii, being an island unto itself, can do things differently. But, I don't foresee tourism starting for a long time. That's what got us into this mess.

  11. I too have that problem. Reminds me of when I first retired. Thank goodness for my computer and my calendar. I noticed that about the skimpy paper this week. We only have a weekly one but it was so thin.

  12. Boy, do I ever know what you mean! Thursday used to be my hiking day, no matter what, so this morning I went out on another solitary walk. Tuesdays and Fridays I have a Zoom yoga class. Other than that, nothing. I do wake up and try to figure out what day it is. :-)

  13. I was just thinking that yesterday - I couldn't figure out what day of the week it was. Was it the day to take out our green rubbish bin? It is rather nice, though, isn't it? Days float by without having to do anything.

  14. The community radio station I listen to has volunteer disk jockeys that come in once a week to do their shift. By noticing who is on the air I can keep track of the days.

  19. I have the same problem, Kay. I used to have my hair appointment on Wednesday and stayed for the game day at the senior center. Now all my days are the same.

  21. I always got the days mixed up when my children were in school and they would be home on a weekday due to special teacher activities — seemed like it must be a weekend. Now, being home day in and day out, one day can just run into another. I find myself needing to check my computer or calendar every once in a while.

  22. They do have a wall clock that has a third, red hand, which points to what day of the week it is. It moves slowly. When I worked nights, I got it so I'd know what day it was, since dawn and dusk appear the same through the bedroom curtains.
These days, once I determine the day and date, confirmed with the next square on my medication box, I make a habit of saying out loud, "Today is Thursday, April 16." So far, that's kept me pretty organized in my head. Yep, I look at the phone too, just to make sure.

  23. It's easy - every day is Sunday, or at least that's how it feels, but so blessedly peaceful!
