We were at Sam's Club two weeks ago. We have a real weakness for fresh blueberries with our cereal and oatmeal in the mornings. I've also been making a bunch of blueberry muffins with the King Arthur's department store recipe and sharing the muffins with family, neighbors and friends. This is the best recipe I've found yet. I don't apply that sugary topping though. I also never eat these muffins since I'm watching my carbs, but everybody has told me they really like it. Then again, would they say anything different since I know they wouldn't want to hurt my feelings?
Anyway.... I digress.
I just wanted to show you what I saw at Sam's Club.
Can you believe it? It's not even Thanksgiving. It's not even Halloween! Good gracious! I can't even imagine what Christmas will be like this year. Will we even go out to shop for presents?
What will the country be like in December? Sigh....
We got our mail-in ballots! Yay! We filled them out and will bring them to the post office to make sure they get sent.
Yay about the mail-in ballots! Boo about the Christmas display... I saw something similar at Rite-Aid Drugstore yesterday and I even asked the saleslady "what happened to Halloween?" She said "It was moved to the end-display on Row 2". But the cmas stuff was nothing like your pic, Kay.

ReplyDeleteChristmas is coming really early so people can spread out their shopping and not all cram into the stores at once, which I think is very smart. Of course, Costco isn't one of the places I shop, but when I do go out, I only go to one store for that day, as I figure that's enough people and germs for the time being. Yesterday I went to the credit union and then to the grocery store. Home, changed my clothes, washed my hands, stayed home. Today I will go to my hairdressers and then Target (maybe), depending on the time. I hate to be in the stores after 11 a.m. Too many people are out by then.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest son called it "Hallowthanksmas." It's everywhere. I'm pretty much staying out of stores except for occasionally. I started having most of my groceries delivered which works pretty well here, small town they come just within hours. I'm waiting for the arrival of our ballots. I will take mine to the drop box behind the court house. :-) Your muffins sound delicious; I have blueberries on my oatmeal too.

ReplyDeleteI usually stay home every day but Wednesday. On Wednesday I go to Coffeyville where my hairdresser works. I meet my brother-in-law for breakfast, get my hair done, buy gasoline and sometimes wash my car. Then two afternoons a month I go to the senior center to play games in the afternoon. We leave our face masks on and play that way. I am to provide prizes next month for the Bunco games. I may just go to Dollar General for those. We buy gift bags to put them in. We give a prize for the most Buncos, most winnings and most losses. I sometimes get the most losses. I removed this post earlier because I had three typos in it and I wanted to correct those.

ReplyDeleteI will be taking my ballot to the Clerks office tomorrow. Interesting---the court house is closed up tight but we can go stand by a window in the back and they will open it 6 inches to take you ballot. New world.
I'm not a huge fan of Xmas, but I'm mostly staying out of stores these days, so I should be able to avoid the early decorating. I'm concerned about the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Xmas and what my family will decide to do. I think my brother and SIL (being Trumpers) will want to get together and my elderly parents will probably go along with that. Then I have to make my own (difficult) decision.

DeleteYes, Christmas is coming now to the big box stores and the Christmas shops in the nurseries. We haven't been to Costco since the shut down. I'm not sure when we will go, if at all. I debated renewing my membership.

Christmas will be strange this year but then, it will be Christmas 2020 after all! Bit early to decorate but maybe folks will stay home more and stores are getting a jump on it. Keep wearing that mask!!

DeleteI was surprised to see Christmas things at Ben Franklin, as well as Costco and Ross. I suppose they think that Halloween is a non happening, though they did have candy and some decor items. My favorite store for Christmas things is Target, so I went to check it out but they are still on Halloween and not sure when the Christmas things come in. The rest of the year is going to whiz by. What a year it has been so far!
ReplyDeleteLast time I went to Costco they had Christmas things out, too. I also had a problem finding the walnuts, and asked an associate. She told me they had been moved to the holiday baking section.

Thanksgiving is this weekend for us, so I imagine that the Christmas merchandise will come out next week. Maybe it already is in some place, but we aren't shopping around very much to know.
