13th Blogaversary

Would you believe my blog is 13 years old? I began posting on Friday, February 29, 2008 which was a Leap Year. Darn! This year (if it was a Leap Year), the 29th of February would have been today. Last year was a Leap Year, but it fell on a Saturday so I didn't post on my actual blogaversary. February 29, 2024 will fall on a Thursday so I can celebrate on my actual blogaversary date. 😁

I confess I'm having difficulty coming up with things to write about since we're not going out to have any adventures.

I've written 3550 posts and loved all the people I've met through my blog. I have been grateful for all the advice and friendship I've received from all of you and sad to have lost some dear blogger friends through the years. The memory of their kindness stays with me though and has enriched my life.

Thank you, everyone for keeping me company throughout this pandemic and making me feel connected by your friendship.

  1. Happy Blogaversary, Kay! And wow--that is a lot of posts! To be honest I can't even remember how I wound up here, but the last couple years I sure have enjoyed reading about Art, your mom, your terrific kids and grandkids & of course yourself, I consider you a real friend. And I'm looking forward to your next 3550 posts :^)

  6. Happy Blogaversary. I'm just a few months ahead of you having started this blogging thing in November 2007. You, however, have written far more posts than I have. I've written around 2400 the last time I glanced at that number. I feel no compunction to write unless I really want to. I never meant for this to be a task to be accomplished but rather a chance for me to put my words out into the universe.

  9. Happy Blogaversary Kay. I started the year after you and have less than a third the number of posts you have. Congrats on being so consistent and good for so many years. It has been a pleasure getting to know you and your family. Plus you always find new and different ways to do things and solve problems. Keep them coming.

  15. Congrats! I'm closing in on my 18th year though I don't have a specific date since my original blog posts were on a defunct blog that has long disappeared. Best guess it was October of 2003 or there abouts.

  18. Congrats Kay! It doesn't seem that long, at least for your readers and friends! Mahalo for still being an excellent educator! I've enjoyed being enlightened and learning about customs and routines in your household. I think every little thing we learn about Hawaiians and Japanese culture defuses and corrects some of the misinformation from the past. And in the 1960s, certainly my midwestern education didn't tell us the whole story from the historical viewpoint.
It'd be a delight to pick out some of the stories from the books about Art's family, and from chapters about your beautiful Mom's life and family to use for blog entries. Knowing their struggles certainly makes us a lot more grateful for what we experience today, comparatively. Aloha, Linda in Kansas

  21. Happy blogaversary, and thanks for keeping track. When you have your blogaversary mine isn't far behind, but I never remember. My first post was in April 2008, as we were getting ready to travel to Europe. Somehow you found me, and our blog family grew from there.

    1. Thank you, bb for your kind encouragement through the years. I do value every one of your comments. I really feel writing the posts keeps my brain active, engaged and exercised. Dementia scares me and I find word retrieval is getting more difficult as the weeks go by.

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I’m using Comment Moderation for any post that is more than a day old because of aggravating SPAM. Therefore, if your comment does not go up on an older (more than a day old) post, it's because I need to OK it first. I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
