Art and I agree on a LOT of things, but sometimes... it takes us forever to see eye to eye.
This brings me to the monumental decision of choosing (you won't believe this) a shower curtain.
I was getting tired of the shower curtain we bought at Walmart in 2013. Our other shower curtain (I think it was plastic) had deteriorated back then. The curtain is right next to the window blowing in a lot of Hawaiian salty air. We looked everywhere for a polyester fabric curtain and couldn't find any. Therefore, when we saw this at Walmart and we didn't hate it, we agreed it would do.
The thing is... the toilet is right in front of that shower curtain. So when you're sitting there minding your business, you stare at that curtain day in and day out.
Well, my sister-in-law gave me a monetary gift so I decided this might be a time to check out Amazon.
You know... if you don't have much of a choice, it's sometimes easier.
I started out looking at more floral curtains which I thought would work. Here's what Art said:
#1 Too fantasy like
#2 Too red, might stand out too much in a light blue bathroom
#3 Too similar to what we had before those giant pond flowers
#4 Nah
Sigh...
OK, I like forests so I thought it would be pleasant to look at a forest scene.
I liked #1 a lot but when I looked at it more closely, those sunbeams somehow didn't work for me. Still, it would be my choice. Maybe. Art looked at it and said, "It's a deciduous forest. We don't have deciduous forests in Hawaii." 🙄
#2 Meh
So I looked at water color type curtains. #3 might work. Wait. Are those crows? Is that foreboding?
#4 So so, sort of gloomy?
And there we are. #1 is still calling to me though.
Which would you pick?
I wish I could share my own shower curtain, I just got a new one a couple months ago from Wayfair and I love it--it's fabric, "abstract art" blue & tan squares on a cream background. I have a clear plastic one behind it. Well Kay, to be honest I like 3 & 4 from your first set of curtains, but if you went with forest I think #3 is a nice compromise :)
ReplyDeletePerhaps I am just a boring person but I would never even think to have any kind of scenery on a shower curtain -- a solid color, at most a subtle calico. But I do like the curtain option over the glass door that any man in my life has preferred.

ReplyDeleteI have to laugh at Olga's comment above because my answer would be none of them and instead a glass door. We did that many years ago and love it. It makes the bathroom seem twice as big and I like taking a shower with more natural lighting. But I guess I'm a man so perhaps that is why I like glass.

ReplyDeleteI actually like number four, and it would look nice in a blue bathroom, but I have to say that your first shower curtain? That's the exact curtain I have in my guest bathroom this very minute! Downstairs, we have a clawfoot tub with curtains all around. I like just a plain white polyester. It looks airy.

ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be awful if whenever you're able to stay with us again, we still have the same shower curtains because we couldn't make up our minds? I agree with you about cleaning the glass doors. We had them in Chicago and had a lot of difficulty with the hard water deposits.
DeleteI have glass doors too. I squeegee them every time I shower. They came with my condo. But in my old house I had a shower curtain that looked much like your old one. I loved it, fabric. Guess I'm no help here.

ReplyDeleteI like 1 from the first set. I have an impressionist looking shower curtain in my upstairs bathroom that took me days (weeks?) to choose. There are thousands of shower curtains and many of them are hideous! I have glass doors on my other showers and they are a pain to wipe down/clean.

ReplyDeleteI used to have a shower curtain that looked like the ocean and dolphins swimming in the water. But, you're supposed to be reading magazines if you're sitting with the toilet that long. Magazines would minimize the amount of time looking at the curtain. #2 looks like some spots in Hawaii. Until I visited, I didn't know there were so many evergreen trees on the Islands. Now, my shower doesn't have a tub and is small. I found a clear shower curtain with those mesh pockets to hold stuff in them from Bed, Bath and Beyond. LOL. I think Anvilcloud's comment wins the game though. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteEvergreen? You must mean the Norfolk pines. Yup, we do have those. During the holiday season, people donate their too tall Norfolks to the city to decorate in front of City Hall.
