And I Love You So

Joared of Along the Way posted about old songs recently which brought to mind a song that was my very favorite a long time ago. I've mentioned it before. It's Perry Como's And I Love You So.

I was looking this song up on YouTube so I could post it and saw that Elvis had also recorded this song. That was a surprise.

And you know what?

I rather like Elvis' version...kinda better.

Because I loved that song so much, our daughter and son-in-law played the song for us at their wedding reception. Good grief! That's almost 20 years ago.

But now that we have grandchildren, my favorite song is Jason Mraz's Have It All.

Have a happy weekend, everybody! I want you to have it all!

  1. I didn't realize that was Perry's song, and I didn't know that Elvis sang it either. I don't know whose voice I hear in my head with that song, but I don't think it i either of them.

  2. I did not know Elvis' version. So I guess I am attached to Perry Como's version.

  7. I started crying listening to Have It All. I hadn't heard it before. And yes, it is a grandparent kind of song. I expect the "I'll be sad without you" may mean he will be gone when his grandkids are old. But maybe this Nana is reading too much into it. Anyhow, very touching whether about kids or grandkids.
And I think that Elvis pretty much does every song better than anyone else.

  8. Aww, somehow the Elvis version made me sad. I guess thinking of him passing so early did it. Had not heard "Have it all" and love the wishes for a loved ones happiness in it. It leaves no wish unsaid.
Neat picture of you and Art.

  12. Many artists recorded this song and I also like it. Since I listen to music on You Tube it's surprising to see how many people record one piece of music.

  14. I love "And I Love You So" too, and I do like both versions. Como is so mellow and Elvis has passion.
I am not familiar with "Have It All", but as you know, I do have a lot.

    1. Thank you, Ed. I just listened to it. I had no idea Don MacLean sang it too. I notice he changed a couple of the words which was fun.

  20. Nice post to listen to with my first cuppa tea this Halloween morning.
Kay, my daughter (the one who is just home from three years living in Germany) is moving to Hawaii. She leaves Minnesota tomorrow to find a place to live. So, maybe will visit your state one of these days!

    1. This is such a miserable time to look for housing. It's so expensive these days. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your daughter. If she's with the military, there is military housing.
