OK... Now you'll know I'm digging deep (into my closet) for a blog post. If this pandemic lasts a whole lot longer, you'll know what's in every nook and cranny of our house.
A friend of mine has some mobility issues and it brought to mind something we used on trips for mom when she had a problem with her knees. We did bring a wheelchair for a couple of trips to Japan for her but it's not the most convenient of items to travel with.
In 2013, we were planning a trip to see various canyons on the mainland. We saw Zion, Bryce, Arches, Antelope, Grand, etc.
It crossed our minds that mom might tire so when we saw this portable, lightweight stool for about $10 at Don Quijote market, we decided to try it out.
Well... it was a godsend at one place we didn't expect. We were just done touring through the amazing Antelope Canyon when we learned that our touring truck had broken down and they needed to get another one. It took at least 45 for another one to arrive.
The stool was comfortable for mom and she was very happy. I wished I had another one for the other elder member in the group.
OK... I'm going to put the stool away in the closet and look for something else to blog about. 😁

You folk are so thoughtful and caring.
ReplyDeleteYou take such good care of your mom!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a thoughtful and caring item to bring along. Bet some of the others--even the youngsters would have liked to have had one.
ReplyDeleteKay, your mom raised a good daughter. :^)
ReplyDeleteOne thing that is common today is the "walker" . When my friend Nancy stops by for chat, she just turns around and sits on the "walker" seat.
ReplyDeleteI have a stoll like that! What a great idea for your mom.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo of her using the stool too. Yes, closets. I am going through mine but slowly.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, even for those of us who aren't that old. :)
ReplyDeleteI need that stool!
ReplyDeleteThat's a clever thing to take along. I have seen something similar on a walking stick and I wondered about it for our next trip, whenever that may be. Your trip to Antelope Canyon brought back a lot of memories of the one we took there. Isn't it an amazing place? Fortunately our truck didn't break down but I did give my head a good whack on one of those overhanging rocks in the dark. Saw stars for a few moments but it started a conversation with a very nice Polish couple :)
ReplyDeleteWhat else do you have hidden away in your closet? I have see walking canes that have seats attached. Is that what this was?
ReplyDeleteNo, she doesn’t really need a cane. But she hurt her knees a while back that made standing for long periods tiring.
DeleteIn a situation like that, sitting on the ground would be what I would do. Getting up when the vehicle arrives an hour later is a different story.
ReplyDeleteThat stool sounds handy for middle age and up!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it would be valuable for gardening also...
ReplyDeleteOh that little stool was very helpful. Good idea :)
ReplyDeleteYup I am having mobility issues too and love the stores with those scooters. But not practical to haul around on one's own. I have the same stool but mines is from Wal-Mart and used it to sit outside. Wish they made easy, lightweight collapsible seats on wheels. Not the bulky walker type with a seat, too bulky. Never thought this kinda thing would be of interest even 10 years ago :( Blog idea, you can write about what great food your mom, Ed and you make
ReplyDeleteTheir or yours specialty. BB
Actually, I’ve written about many of the dishes we make at our house. I actually don’t cook a whole lot anymore. Art has a few dishes, but we tend to just repeat things because our diet has to be soft due to mom’s dentures.
DeleteHandy things to ease the way are good.
ReplyDeleteI have seen that kind of stools. You are a very thoughtful daughter.
ReplyDeleteThat comes in handy.
ReplyDeleteA stool like that can be so useful and helpful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
