Recalled Test Kits?

Linda in Kansas notified me yesterday that she'd heard on Fox Business News that the test kits distributed by the government was being recalled for a high number of false positive results.

She said that the test kits she received were manufactured in the Republic of Korea. I checked Fox Business News and it does state:

"On Wednesday, the FDA also announced the recall of the SD Biosensor STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag Home Test, stating the test is not approved by the FDA for marketing or distribution in the United States."

I looked at all the test kits we've received. I didn't realize we were getting different kits.

The first one we got was sent only to a few states last year as sort of a test run, I think.

However the next two was this orange box and it's manufactured in China for iHealth Labs, Incorporated.

When I looked online for more information, I found the above on ABC news. It states that the recall does NOT apply to those distributed by Roche Diagnostics.

Linda sent me photos of the front and back of the test kits she received from the Federal Government.

You can see that her kit was indeed distributed by Roche Diagnostics.

I asked my daughter in Illinois and sister-in-law in California what test kit they got. I was surprised that they also got the blue SD Biosensor kits from Roche Diagnostics since we got the orange boxes which says Antigen Rapid Test.

So anyway.... it's all good.

Phew!

When you think about it, IF there was anything wrong with the test kids sent to everyone in the U.S. who requested it, wouldn’t they let us know?

  1. I didn't order any kits at all so I won't be concerned about them.

  2. They are supposedly available for free in some grocery stores here, but I have never actually seen one.

  3. Good detective work, Kay. I'll see what tests we received, although so far haven't needed them.

  4. I can't believe I got mine several weeks ago and didn't take the time to open and look until now. Kay I got the 2 orange kits (made in China) as well, as did my friend Danielle and my sister. On this freezing Monday morning I wish southwestern Pa had more in common with Hawaii than covid test kits! 😉♥️♥️

  5. Thanks SO much Kay for further researching this. You've earned your spot on the CDC staff! That's a small detail in the name of the kits. Glad mine are okay and not recalled. Hopefully we won't have to use them. Linda in Kansas

  8. I noticed that fox is getting further and further out there. It's really Russian propaganda at this point. I remember when we were loyal citizens and not always trying to tear the government and each other down. What a shame things have come to this point! Fox is poison into our country

  11. Fox News is something I would never watch or trust. They are famous for spreading false claims. Check other places.

  18. Kay -- just wanted to make sure your blog friends realize I don't usually check anything via Fox, not even locally. I haven't lost my mind or turned Republican! Just happened to see the news item from scrolling around about the recall. For a fleeting moment I thought maybe Fox made it up. Confusing for sure, but we're all good and informed from your checking. Thanks, Linda in Kansas

    1. I know they all know, Linda. I check FOX news occasionally just to see what they're up to. I've repeated that quote before about keeping your friends close, but your enemies even closer. Look at Tucker Carlson. How much more evil can you get? The Russians are using him in their propaganda. He is such a self serving egomaniac willing to broadcast misinformation to a segment of the population who believe everything he says.

  19. Now that you mention it, I don't think we got our kits at all!! The Post Office said they were on their way, months ago, but then I have a bit of a political difference with our PostMaster...just saying.

  20. Those aren't the test kits being used at my work place.

  21. We've got test kits in drug stores, all checked out by the government. I'm pretty much a hermit, so it's only JB I worry about.
