Another thing that kept me busy and away from my blog was creating another photobook for Art, me, our kids and grandkids. It actually encompasses our son and his family's travels, our 2 trips to Illinois and our all coming together in July.
I showed it to my brother and he reassured me that it was very nice. Hmmm... I texted him asking if he was just saying that so he wouldn't have to improve it. My brother is a really talented graphic artist. He said my sister-in-law asked him the same thing.
I reminded him that he's my favorite (OK, only) brother.

So a bit later, he sent this to me. 😁 Yup. Perfect! I like it.
Then I remembered a deal Shutterfly had sent in the mail a while back. I have 84 pages so this is perfect! And 40% off on top of that? Doesn't get any better than this, especially when I have to order 3 books since I have to send one to Illinois and one to South Asia.
It's Art's job to upload the pages I created so I reminded him to TAKE OFF the Costco discount. If you keep the Costco discount, you can't use the Shutterfly Discount.
Isn't it amazing?
When Costco first turned over their photo account to Shutterfly, we made the mistake of not taking their discount off which prevented our being able to use the Shutterfly offers. We know better now.
POSTSCRIPT 1: We'd gotten the notice that the books were going to arrive on September 13th so I was happily waiting for it. It did not come and we got another notice that it would be delayed until the 17th.
POSTSCRIPT 2: And then it was the 19th and it still hadn't arrived. Apparently, the photobooks were handed over to UPS and then transferred to USPS and somehow they couldn't deliver it in over a week. Aggravation!
POSTSCRIPT 3: WHAT?!? Delayed again! Now USPS is saying it'll come on the 25th! Something fishy is going on here.
POSTSCRIPT 4: Art decided to write to them and got the message that it's been delayed long enough that they'll send another shipment. 😀 Fingers crossed it comes this time.
You do well. I have projects in mind, but I never get to them.
ReplyDeleteI have a genealogy one on Shutterfly that I need to finish up and then wait for one of their sales to print. With our eldest child gone, our artistic younger child was bored and so I have hired her to create photobooks on Shutterfly that I can print off as sales come along. She has been working on her first one. I have promised her $20/book that she creates.

ReplyDeleteWhen things get delayed like this in UK, it often means that the package has been 'lost.' I hope it's not the same with UPS. 🤞
ReplyDeleteI use shutterfly too but now only do a yearly book instead of for every big trip we take. I'll incorporate Switzerland photos in the 2024 edition. It's on my to do list to start gathering the photos into one folder in iPhoto.
ReplyDeleteKay, I've used Shutterfly in the past for when the grandkids were small... haven't in a while. Maybe I'll get back and update now that so much time has passed. I've actually wanted to make a book(s) of my blog.... but haven't gotten around to that either. It seems like the days pass so quickly that I barely have time to get the things I need to do done. I think it's great that you do all you do.
ReplyDeleteShutterfly is expensive but they do have some good deals, especially if you put something in your cart and wait to order it. :) The mail is crazy these days!!

ReplyDeleteI am still in the Dark Ages and use paper and printed photos. The kids got me an Aura screen that is digital and we all download photos/videos to it and I get an ever changing screen of pictures that sits on my kitchen counter for me to enjoy.

ReplyDeleteWhen I read one of your photo book posts I wonder if I should be doing this too. I have thousands of photos, some on the cloud and most on external hard drives. But I probably won't. As long as I have a blog, many are stored there.

The books look grand! We've had lots of trouble with the post office causing delays and problems. I had an order last year that I could track and it traveled real close to my town, then popped out of the KC area again to WA, then Florida before I got it. Another order was totally empty when I received the box, but the post office put 3 stickers on the empty box stating it was open, partially missing stuff, and missing all stuff! I took a pic of that, and the company reshipped my order.
ReplyDelete(All of this is because DJT put his friend (DeJoy) in the PO job and it's gone downhill. DeJoy owns a mail processing machine company, and changed quite a few which made processing slower.) The investigations around here have weird excuses: turnover and not enough trained employees. UPS has been delivering to postal offices to finish the deliveries to the homes. They actually aren't sure what to do with them! We have an option to pick up packages at a nearby UPS processing center. Tempting. Linda in Kansas, where we remember the Pony Express!

ReplyDeleteEver since Covid, the USPS has been unreliable, even more than before. My daughter who works for them said it's due to the huge increase in online shopping through Amazon, who has a contract with them and because of this, everyone else is less essential. Well, she didn't exactly put it like that but you get the idea.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for producing those books. That is a huge job. I no longer make yearly picture books for the grandkids as I no longer have a large supply of photos to choose from. We see them less often and there are fewer photos taken of daily life.
