We've been buying a cooked pizza from Sam's Club, bringing it home, layering it with cooked spinach (my optometrist said spinach is good for my eyes) and anchovies (which we love).
Our daughter thinks we're crazy. Anyway, she told us recently that they like Motor City pizza from Costco.
We haven't been thrilled with other frozen pizzas in the past so haven't bought them in a long, long while.
What a surprise! Mom totally loved it. (No, we didn't add spinach or anchovies.) And we really liked it too.
It was interesting that it's supposed to have about 12 servings. There are two trays so each is supposed to have 6 servings.
It actually works OK for us with a green salad, cooked veggies or whatever to add as side dishes.
However, for others, perhaps it would be more like 4 servings per tray with 8 servings total per box.
Whatever the case, yes. We will buy it again. 😁
POSTSCRIPT:
ARRRGGHH!!! 😖 I wrote about Jackson’s Sweet Potato Chips that we discovered in Chicago’s Costco last year and then found here in Hawaii.
HOWEVER, when we went to Costco here again a few weeks later, they no longer carried it. But yes, Tiffany tells me they can still find it in Chicago.
So now… right after I post about Motor City Pizza Co. they NO LONGER carry it here in Hawaii. 😲 What the heck! This is so irritating. We just went back to Costco this afternoon to pick up a package to freeze and there wasn’t any. We looked up and down the aisle that had lots of other kinds of pizza, but not this pizza from Motor City Pizza Co.
Sigh….
I wonder if it is available here, not that we ever go to Costco, but it sure looks good at 6 in the morning. 🙃
ReplyDeleteWe normally make our own pizzas but someone in our lives kept going on and on about a gas station in town that made the best pizza. We finally bought one and tried it out and it was really good. But we are creatures of habit and lazy to go out again on Friday nights, when we normally make our pizzas, so have only bought it a few times over the years.
ReplyDeleteWe make our own pizzas, but if we buy a frozen one we add things we like to it - often too much, so that it ends up rather soggy!
ReplyDeleteI will admit. We have a Little Cesaers near us and they have something called a hot and ready pizza - they keep them in the warmer - for $6.49. We can just stop and pick one up - hot and ready to eat, lol. My pizza making days are over.

ReplyDeleteOoh I've heard about this pizza from FB local foodies. They all Rave about it. But I can't justify buying that much pizza for only me. I also tire of food once I had it and need some time in-between to try again. Walmart carried it one time but no longer. I like the cheap pizzas like Tortino's and Tombstone ($6). I think cuz the sauce is sweeter. But I'm not really into pizza. BB

DeleteI like the Jack's frozen thin crust pizza, and add some parm to it. Sam's used to carry a couple of favorite frozen items, like egg rolls, but they switched brands to something bleh. (If you have Casey's gas stations, their pizza is WAY too greasy.) I even dab off the grease when grabbing one slice at my Sam's store if I'm there at lunchtime. K.C. is still too sad to eat. ReplyDeleteI haven't had pizza since forever. Never liked any commercial pizzas. Here the cooks make pizza from scratch and I don't really like it. But I seem to be the exception.
ReplyDeleteThat' s interesting, we really enjoyed Motor City pizza from Costco and always have leftovers. I hope we can get one still here. We go to Costco and it's discouraging to find things you can't get anymore. We learned this on Instagram. If you ever go to CostCo and look at the label, if there is an asterisk somewhere, it means that product is going to be discontinued. It's time to go get another pizza, now I am hankering for one :) Have you also heard of the app Yuka? You can download it on your phone, and point it to products in the store. It will tell you how healthy or not healthy it is.

ReplyDeleteI don't use Costco, and have never heard of that pizza. But the crust looks like a good crust, and that's the secret, really: if the crust is no good it doesn't matter how you 'dress the pizza'. PS: We do that too. I like to add vegetables and extra cheese to our pizzas. We just get a rising crust pizza and top it.

ReplyDeleteA couple of weeks ago I bought the Motor City Pizza at the Hawaii Kai Costco. It is my favorite as well. On Monday Hawaii Kai Costco had the Sweet Potato Chips. I bought it but never tried it but I will now.

DeleteWe don't have pizza delivery here in the sticks. Frozen hasn't been a good option for me. I order online, and Joe goes in to pick it up for us. You really have to research this stuff, as you do. Good work.
