Trashing Trump

One of my very good friends in Illinois added this to our teacher friends' chat line.

I don't like to write about politics because there's too much I really don't know. My son and Art can discourse on politics to the minutia. But like math, it's not something I have in depth understanding on.

I therefore looked this up and I'm finding quite a bit of truth in it. And then I saw this fun picture.

It's bad enough right now that Tulsi Gabbard could become the Director of National Intelligence.

Seriously? Most people in Hawaii where she is from know better just how intelligent she is.

And now there's Robert Kennedy Jr. in line to become the new Health and Human Services Secretary. He's the guy who is against vaccinations. I'm not going into it here.

I was aghast when Trump won the first time. Remember when COVID hit and he suggested pumping bleach into our veins intravenously?

Is it true that he wants the U.S. to take over Gaza? He wants to change Denali back to Mt. McKinley? He’s dismantling USAID? He’s getting rid of DEI programs?

It feels even scarier now.

  1. Just wait until he tries to change the American Constitution to allow him to attempt a third/fourth/fifth term as president. I don't think he would succeed, but I'm willing to bet he'll try!

  2. It's a coup and the media is giving it a pass.

    1. Hi Ceci, I just read the New York Times yesterday and they seem to be trying to get the truth out.

  3. I dislike political memes and try to avoid them. All they do is fear monger, causing paranoia and political divisiveness, exactly the opposite of what is needed if we are ever going to heal this nation.

  4. P.S. Can you provide your sources for the top meme being "mostly true"? I have searched high and low and can find none suggesting it is.

  5. Like Ed, I dislike political memes but worse than that, I dislike POLITICS! Can't trust any politicians.

  6. Yes. It is true. And it is happening very quickly, so quickly, that I cannot bring myself to try to keep up with it all. I put up a post today that might help. Heather Richardson Cox sees the big picture and lays it out in an understandable way.

  7. I wish the interaction with Canada was that smooth. I am one horrified Canadian as I listen to the man say that he will use economic means to force us to become the 51st state. It is insane. Frankly, I would condone any means to stop that. Any means. Much as I like individual Americans, just now I do not like America.

  8. The world is in a sad state. Folks think he is going to save them, when in reality they will most likley suffer. DEI is helpful for everyone, not just folks of colour too.

  11. He is a dangerous lunatic and so are his followers/cult members. I can't believe what we've come to in this country.

  12. Hopefully from this outrage, a true leader emerges. Three years and 11 months to go.

  14. I'm happy to see you wading in politically, if just a bit. It's very important that we Americans, and Canadians, and Mexicans, and the world, pay attention to what the Trump administration is doing. We were warned that he could destroy our democracy, and with the aid of Elon Musk, that's what he's trying to do.

  15. i think it is important to educate ourselves about politics...but i don't really talk about politics with anyone.

  16. I'd read in one of the major news channels, that the repubs have aleady submitted a bill to allow more than 2 terms for the presidency. So many are explaining away his alleged rationale for all of his blab and ideas, I'm afraid the Repubs just might change that law. I don't want any one with the Trump name or his associates in office. It's very sad and sickening. The above is certainly how he operates. God save us. Linda in Kansas

  18. Recently found your blog and enjoy reading it. I am surprised some commenters think they can dictate what you write on your personal blog. If they dislike what you write hopefully they won't come back.

  19. I've seen so many blogs that say exactly what you say here... that Trump is going to destroy democracy as we know it.... and I agree, he is a nasty vengeful evil man, but where are all the comments for those millions of people who voted for him? I never see any blog comments defending his actions. Weird.

    1. I don't think you see those comments because they're probably in their own world with their own like-minded people. I'm embarrassed for our country.

  21. Aghast is a good word. People's lives are at risk here. And there. And livelyhood. It is awful. I am so sorry for my US friends.

I really LOVE hearing from you! However, if you sign in as ANONYMOUS, please don't forget to tell me who you are in the comment box by just writing your first name. We would all appreciate it if you kept your comment respectful and kind.

I’m using Comment Moderation for any post that is more than a day old because of aggravating SPAM. Therefore, if your comment does not go up on an older (more than a day old) post, it's because I need to OK it first. I'm sorry to have to do this, but again... sigh... it's the spam that's driving me crazy.
