I took mom out to the Handi-Van the other morning and the driver said, “How come you no stay long time? Your husband when bring your mom out for the last few days.”
I just love hearing Hawaiian pidgin. I grew up speaking it but my brother says I lost it when we moved to the mainland.
Anyway, I told the Handi-Van driver that I’ve been dealing with vertigo and it’s supposed to last 3 or more months. And now that I’ve done more research, I think Dr. Payne is right. It said that with PPPD, you don’t have the world spinning (apparently the world goes side to side?) and you don’t get nauseous to the point of vomiting.
So nope. That’s not me. The world definitely spins and I do get sick to my stomach horribly.
I’ll be waiting to see what the new diagnosis will be.
Meanwhile, Dr. Payne warned me about scrolling on the computer. 😳
And he’s right. If I scroll through items on the computer, it does make me dizzy.
I already have a bunch of blog posts scheduled for several weeks so I guess I’ll be more careful about being on the computer for a while until this episode passes.
Meanwhile, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everybody!!! ❤
I've heard of a few cases recently, including a slight one from my own granddaughter.

ReplyDeleteTake good care, my friend. Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: Thank you, Pat. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too. We’ve been seeing Audrey and Irene a lot at the mall.
DeleteYep, vertigo is terrible, and a symptom rather than a disease in itself so very hard to diagnose. Good luck with the research and at least some things are being eliminated, right? It's great to have medical support that doesn't want to force you in to a particular diagnostic box, so your Dr. Payne sounds like a plus too.
ReplyDeleteHope your holiday goes well.

As someone who suffered from it for several unbearable days, I can't imagine months of it. I'm so sorry, Kay! The issue does mainly seem to be women of a certain age. Our age, unfortunately. Hope you're better ASAP.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the vertigo, Kay. It sounds really awful. My cousin had it at some point and she was told to stop/reduce her salt intake. She called it Meniere's disease. But I don't think she has it often. Hope yours clears up quickly.
ReplyDeleteThat does sound terrible and horrible!
ReplyDeleteBummer. My husband had the positional one for a while, but it stopped and vanished, thanks be. I hope you have a fine and vertigo free Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a switch to stop the spinning. The last time I had vertigo (about a month ago) I decided to try a technique involving a tongue stimulator and microcurrent. I got shakey, cold sweat, and threw up gunk. Went to sleep and was good after. Not sure if I would do it again - but maybe. Those crystal in the ear canal theory might only be for certain cases and the rest of the cases is our brain reacting to something that it doesn't like.
ReplyDeleteI recently had a bout with dizziness. So hard to diagnosis. I've been doing that epley maneuver and doctor prescribed some medication cause he thought it might be viral and caused inflammation. I googled and both seem to treat different dizziness. The medication did make me more lightheaded. Today is the fist morning I feel almost back to normal from over a week of dizziness and lightheaded. Every day I felt drunk.
ReplyDeleteHope you are able to enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

If you have never had vertigo, you just cannot imagine how terrible it truly is. I have had it and I KNOW. I think I told you that Richard called 911 for me in Feb. of 2024. When the EMTs were with me, they thought I could be having a stroke. It was terrible. Hope the doctors can properly diagnose your condition and get you the proper treatment. I not only had those crystals in my ear out of whack but I also have labyrinthitis, there I think I spelled it right. And for that, my doctor cheerfully told me, "There is no cure"! LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds awful. It is good to have a diagnoses and a treatment plan though. I continue to be a mystery, but my symptoms are not nearly as awful as yours.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! My pumpkin pies just came out of the oven and the cranberry sauce is cooling. Young people are coming over in about two hours to make wreaths. I'm resting.
Oh no! Bummer. Keep chasing the docs. My niece got cataract surgery, and the scarring had to be zapped away, which isn't uncommon, but it tripped her vertigo and nausea so make sure your vision and glasses are ok. Hope Turkey Day is easy on you. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Vertigo is not fun.
ReplyDeleteHappy thanksgiving! I have had vertigo and it was horrible.Turning over in the bed sent be reeling. An ear Dr. helped me. Hope you can overcome this. Galla Creek
ReplyDeleteOh so sorry. I love pigin English too when it is spoke to me, I can't speak it either.
ReplyDeleteMy MIL had Vertigo off and on and she went to PT and they gave her exercises for it. I helped her to do the Epley Maneuver and that helped clear things up for her for a while each time. Don't know if your docs said anything about that.
I do get dizzy if I am doing gardening and stand up quickly.
Crossed fingers that you find a solution.
Vertigo is the worst! I don't have it bad, but when I do get it, I take a meclizine and stay off all screens. I'm not sure, but I think computers and phones are a big cause of it.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the vertigo, I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it.
All the best Jan
I hope that you get some answers soon. In the meantime, you are doing the best you can do under some very trying circumstances.
ReplyDeleteI have experienced bad vertigo too my friend and so my heart goes out to you deeply! I wish you didn't have to deal with this. Kay! I really really appreciate your visit and comment and I wish you guys a beautiful Thanksgiving too. It's day today with my husband. He's such a beautiful person that even diminished people like him and he gets great care. So I'm grateful for that. I'm trying not to worry about tomorrow. I visit him everyday, but didn't go out there today and ended up sleeping practically the entire day. This whole thing has been exhausting. So hang in there! I'm confident better days are coming for both of us. Bless you dear k 💓
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: Good morning, Cloudia. Sending you hugs and tears too. I can imagine how hard it is. Your husband is so lucky to have you here for him. I’m grateful I have Art with me to take care of mom. And she’s always so grateful we’re here for her even with her diminished memory. I know, I truly know how grateful and happy your husband is to have you at his side at this most difficult time in his life.
DeleteAl the best, Kay! You are such a wonderful family.
