Mynah Wars II, Round #3

Round #2 went to the Birds! (And in record time.)

Art thought he'd won the battle.

I have to say I did ask earlier, "Are you sure you shouldn't secure that down somehow?"
"Not necessary," he said, "The blocks are too heavy. They can't possibly move it when it's pushed in. Besides, I don't have a long enough ladder to reach that high to screw it in."
After lunch Art went to admire his handiwork and saw that the mynahs had indeed pushed the block over and dented the air conditioning unit below it.

Was he upset? No. Angry? No. Determined. Oh....yesssssssss....

Art went to the neighbor's house and borrowed their tall ladder. Then he got some screws and screwed in the blocks with their aluminum bird barriers.

Alrighty then...
So he lost Round #2. The Bird Brains have it! They won this battle.

Let's see who wins the war.

  1. Mynahs as in the birds that can be taught to talk? (or imitate talk). Never thought of them as birds out in the wild.
I admire his determination - but "nature finds a way" it seems!

  2. Now this is getting very interesting (at least to me just reading about it)but I bet Art will come up with a solution. Good luck with the bird wars.

  6. Hats off to Art's determination and, I like the way he comes up with these nifty solutions. Good job, Art. You're lucky he has that mindset, my Tarrzan would have grabbed the pellet gun and went bird hunting - right there on the porch.

  7. How frustrating, but good on Art for coming up with a solution - let's just hope it works. We've got blue tits nesting in our eaves - they make a heck of a racket too - but it was too late to do anything about them by the time Christopher had the chance to sort stuff out, so we'll have to wait until the babies have fledged then get up there and see what needs to be done.

My instinct is that the birds will always win.

  9. What's beginning to worry me, is that once Art wins the war on nest-building, he's going to have to fight a war on the noise: how long will they bang on it before giving up to go somewhere else?

And I can't help but feel sorry for Mr. Mynah, as his wife is probably nagging him for that perfect corner she found, and now he's caught between her nagging and Art's sheet metal. Poor guy!!

    I still hope Art wins.
