Why He Likes Being Married to Me!

I already had a post for today which I had postdated last night after I gave myself a haircut.

Then, as I was having my oatmeal this morning that Art prepared with cranberries and heaven knows what he put in it, I reminded him that it was the 6th when he scheduled his dentist appointment. That's when it occurred to me that there was something else familiar about today.

Aha! I stared at my husband reading the paper. He looked up and said, "What?" I stared some more. He started looking around the kitchen for a clue.

"HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!" I told him.

He looked at the calendar which just said Dentist 2:30. Then he stood and gave me a hug.

That's the nice thing about being married to me. I forget our anniversary, too (and lots of other things)! This time the kids did not come through and remind me.

37 years!

We're having crab to celebrate tonight and no, it's not any sort of symbolic crabby thing about our marriage. Crab is just special...like our marriage has been.

  1. The best is yet to come. We've been married 47 years, and both of us have mellowed over the last 10, particularly over the last 5.

    Happy anniversary.

  3. Congratulations to you both, that's quite an achievement. We'll be having our 31st anniversary this year; we both tend to remember, though we don't usually do anything special these days.

  9. 37 years is a long time. wow! Congrats and enjoy the crab.

For some reason David and I never forget our wedding anniversary. Maybe because I am married to an accountant? He likes to count!

  11. Happy Ever After!!! Sounds like you made a pretty good choice for the younster you were when you decided to marry your man.

Wayne and I sometimes remember... but, we just don't have the oomph (or the desire) to get all gussied up and go out on the town. We prefer hanging out with each other at the Hollow... doing a little dutch oven cooking and eating under the stars in the yard...

Life gets both simpler and sweeter as the years go by, does it not?

I think you and Art would both be incredibly easy people to live with and love.

Here's to many, many, more December 6th's celebrated together.

  18. A belated happy anniversary! What a beautiful couple you make! A question for you, Kay - where did you get your jumper/dress? Is there an online link? This is the style I like to wear but haven't been able to find anything in ages.

  21. Thank you, Everybody! It really is hard to believe that we've been married that long. Gracious!

Nan: I'm so happy you like that dress. Unfortunately I don't know where it's from. It's actually a hand-me-down from my daughter when she was in high school. She was going to donate it and I took it out and kept it. Since my daughter has been out of high school for WELL OVER a decade I don't think she'll remember where she got it from. I've been looking for jumpers like these, too!
