We're having a quiet Christmas and missing our children and their families today. I'm happy to know that our son, Jon and his Sarah will be visiting his sister, Tiffany during the holidays. I wish we could be with them too.
We will actually be celebrating Christmas here in Hawaii on the 27th instead with my brother and some of his family. Everyone has such busy, varying work schedules that it's hard to find a time when we can all be together.
But I remember another time.
Christmas was magical with the kids when they were growing up.
And even when they grew up, it was still magical.
Neighbors have stopped by with gifts and the kids have sent things to cheer our holiday.
But what I'm really waiting for are the phone calls. Then we can be together again.
Merry Christmas, everybody!

Lovely memories in those photos :). Merry Christmas to you all Kay!
ReplyDeleteIt's three AM here. I got up because I can't sleep, Too tired form our big Christmas Eve dinner and family gathering, then waiting for the kids to go to sleep so we could have Santa come, excited about tomorrow, well today now. There's a very big pile of presents under and around the tree. This will be big.
ReplyDeleteIt is magical when there are children at Christmas, and I so understand your longing to be with them. Wishing you a merry little Christmas, and great telecommunications!
Merry Christmas to my favorite Buddhists! How's that for encompassing more folks into the circle? Thanks for the enlightenment on the various holidays! So the world should be peaceful and celebrate every day, if we'd all just recognize every one's holiday!
ReplyDeleteYep, "parental power" to move holidays is good. I used to have my son write Santa to let him know which house he'd be at and when, during the times I split holidays with his dad. With his birthday on the 27th, the kid gathered quite a collection of goodies. The parents loved me for having a sleepover on New Year's Eve each year.
Have a lovely rest today. Go to the beach and pretend it's snow?!
Aloha, DrumMajor
Merry Christmas to my favorite person from the Land of Oz. I wouldn't mind a little snow right now... I did say little.
DeleteLook at your beautiful children! Thank you for sharing and thank you for your wonderful Christmas wishes. Merry Christmas to you too.
ReplyDeleteI have had my share of magical Christmas days with children, too. Today will be a quiet one with just me and my partner, but because of the wonders of the Internet, I'll be in touch with everyone! Merry Christmas, Kay. :-)
ReplyDeletehave a merry christmas
ReplyDeletethank goodness for skype and phone calls-we had a lovely dinner with Caryn and her husband last night. Today her family will be coming for the rest of the holidays-we've seen our one son and his family on their way to Disneyland and back.
ReplyDeleteI think we are at the stage of your second photograph! You make me think of a time when the kids will not be with us on Christmas, possibly separated by distance like you. Thank goodness for skype as Lin says. And you will be back to your busy routine in no time! It's great that Jon and Tiff will be together.
ReplyDeleteHey Kay!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a merry Christmas too! And I know what you mean, having kids on Christmas morning, NOTHING better! xx
Hope you have a great celebration on the 27th! Love can be celebrated WHENEVER! :-)
Aww, sweet memories. Enjoy skyping today, Kay.
