OK, Now we were ready for the holidays. I've been such a slow starter this year that Art took the initiative and took out the box holding our Christmas tree.
We bought this artificial tree when we moved to Hawaii four years ago. It's a lot simpler than the one we left behind with Tiffany, but not quite so real looking.
Once the tree was put together, we draped the silver garland and added the shiny balls to the inside of the tree. Then we added our precious mementos of Christmases past. And finally, the tinsel... My daughter and son are laughing about this.

It is a beautiful tree Kay. Ours is a lot smaller in diameter and height but I had fun decorating it and will take a photo soon. Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteMy screen froze before I got a chance to say your tree is beautiful. Our tree isn't up yet, but I did help my friend decorate her tree yesterday. That should count for something, right?

ReplyDeleteWe do our tree a bit differently...lights, then the ornaments we've collected over the years, and garland last. (No tinsel. I don't like it!)

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! I've read how some froggies and slugs on real trees shipped to Hawaii have been held, so the artificial one is grand. I've usualy grabbed a bag of pine cones to add the evergreen scent to a room. DrumMajor
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true! They had some real problems with those slugs and frogs. I get the feeling that some of those pests got through anyway.
DeleteLike Art, David is the one who puts the tree together. I am the one who decorates, though. All we need now is a pot of poinsettias to brighten the room. It will go nicely with my silk rug from India.

ReplyDeleteOh, it's perfect, Kay. I love it. Mine won't be up for a while, if at all. Dick is Jewish and doesn't care one way or the other about Christmas. The only reason my tree involves him is because it's down in the cellar, where I can't go (very steep ladder-like stairs with no railing). It's only 18 or 20 inches tall, and I put it on a bookcase level with the living room window. I have a fairly extensive collection of Victorian village scenes, but they require a 2-person team to do properly. I had great fun the year I had a niece here for Christmas. We decorated, and made dinner, and had lots of giggles, but otherwise Christmas is just another day in this house.

DeleteI must admit that I am beginning to panic. I don't know if I will make it or not this year with all that needs to be done. I should leave blogland and work on Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI got a jump on Christmas too, so Tom is slowing down, but now I'm working on my sewing project for Irene. Keeping busy is a good thing.
