My friend, Myrtle just sent me another hint that I thought was rather interesting to pass on to you.
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in yourhouse, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off,and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the carbattery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's asecurity alarm system that you probably already have and requires noinstallation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your houseand will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset itwith the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your drivewayor garage.
It's just rather comforting to know you have something at your disposal that could call your neighbors attention.

Or might be ignored...by my neighbors. But then again, perhaps not. Certainly cheaper than other systems. My concern is that the noise is usually some raccoon in the garage!
ReplyDeleteGood idea. ADT home security systems also have a fob with a "panic" button that dials the police.
ReplyDeleteGood idea!
ReplyDeleteVery good idea.....one I would have never thought of.
ReplyDeleteWell, some people are so clever. Although, we once had quests whose rental car malfunctioned and the alarm went off and could not be shut off until the battery cable was disconnected. It was annoying, but when we apologized to the neighbors the next day, they had not heard a thing.
ReplyDeletegood idea...
ReplyDeleteknowing my car, it won't turn on.
ReplyDeleteThat is a clever idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea I have heard of before but unfortunately, my key does no tricks. It is just a key.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it would alert the neighbors but hopefully it would scare the beejeezus out of the intruder. Sounds like a good idea to me.
ReplyDeleteI do this every night and also keep the cell phone by my bed. My dog sleeps by my bed and would be roused by any intruder if I didn't hear them first. Diannd
ReplyDeleteThat's a great tip for those who have a car alarm. I don't, and my car isn't close by my apartment anyway. But if in the future I have this feature, I'll use it! Thanks, Kay! :-)
ReplyDeleteA great idea for those without security systems!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea....tho having the alarm go off in the garage would give us both a pause.
ReplyDeleteI will remember that, thank you Kay!
ReplyDeleteThanks, good advice!!
