Someone sent me this coffee idea that I thought was pretty wonderful.
I'm thinking of doing this for my morning mocha... maybe.
I always add chocolate milk to my coffee in the morning. Art makes a pot for me every few days that I keep in the fridge so I have a ready supply for my mocha every morning.
The ice does melt and dilute my mocha so this might be good to do.
I also freeze lemon juice to add to my carbonated water. It adds a bit of zing to my water.
I tried freezing chocolate milk too, but that didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped. Hmmm.... So what else can I freeze?

We have three freezers and not place for anything else. I must get to work sorting them out and getting rid of freezer burned food so I can freeze coffee and lemon juice:)
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I like to add a lemon slice and just a drop of honey to water--with no fizzies involved. I freeze the lemon slices on a cookie sheet and then put them in a freezer bag. Unfortunately, in VT, the lemon supply is not generally up to standard but we all have to make compromises. I don't recall ever even trying iced coffee. I don't care how hot it may be, I have to have a hot cup in the morning. I wonder if it wouldn't work for iced tea though.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing!! I also keep ginger root in the ffreezer, its grates while frozen, I like ginger and lemon tea, a slice of lemon and a few grates of ginger, hot water, ginger tea!I do that freeze chicken stock in cubes,
ReplyDeleteI love ice coffee and will try this. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI like my coffee hot and unsweetened, so this doesn't apply to me, but it seems to be a good idea anyway! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I have my iced coffee in the afternoon; the morning's hot brew has cooled by that time and it doesn't take much ice to chill it (and so not much dilution).
ReplyDeleteI like to freeze leftovers in single serving sizes and keep in the freezer for quick meals. Right now there's brown rice, chicken breasts, and pulled pork.
What else can you freeze? Well, when Edo and Naomi were young they would tease me by saying that they had captured live flies and put them in water in the ice tray.
ReplyDeletefrozen milk doesn't sound so great
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea. However, I really don't have space in my freezer for a tray of coffee cubes. So, I'll continue to pour coffee into my glass of ice cubes and add skim milk. Yum!
ReplyDeleteClever idea. I've never tried iced coffee.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteI love iced coffee!
ReplyDeleteI love iced coffee but seldom think to make my own. I need to start doing that.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I will ever acquire a taste for cold coffee. Both my parents loved iced coffee, but I don't. If I ever try it, however, I will try creating frozen cubes of coffee.
ReplyDeleteOn another note. Our neighborhood is funky. Every house is different and the neighbors are different from one another. Among other ethnicities, we have Peruvian, Turkish, Mexican, Cuban, and Korean. All races and religions represented. In addition, the neighborhood is full of artists, mostly visual artists, but we also have a few sculpters and designers. Probably a lot like the ethnic makeup of Chicago and New York
Years ago, the data firms classified our neighborhood as "Bohemian." I wish it would stay like this, but unfortunately, some of the housing stock is pretty old and various builders have renovated and/or completely rebuilt some of the houses. Some are quite tasteful, and the odd one is ostentatious. Dianne
What a good idea! I enjoy a mocha but I have mine hot!
ReplyDeleteI'm a hot coffee person too. Any iced coffee I've had would have been a fancy Starbucks Frap-a-something, a liquid dessert.
ReplyDeleteYou idea of making iced coffee just crossed every boundary and being an iced coffee lover i would be surely trying this but thanks a lot for this innovative idea .

You keep a pot of cold coffee with chocolate in your fridge?
ReplyDeleteDo you then zap it to warm it up each morning?
(Dr. Pepper popsicles are good.) DrumMajor
No, I keep a glass container of the coffee and a carton of chocolate milk. In the mornings, I just pour the coffee over ice in a mug and pour a little chocolate milk in it. Love it. My nephew, Cody always asks for it. Dr. Pepper? Really?
DeleteWonderful idea, thanks Kay!
