Our daughter, Tiffany introduced us to laminated tablecloths. We like having a tablecloth on our tables and usually chose a nice easy to clean vinyl. Nowadays, the vinyl tablecloths I find here are thin and break easily or are rather inelegant.

Here's the tablecloth she bought us about three years ago. It's very easy to wipe up spills and is almost like having a vinyl tablecloth.

In fact, we liked it so much that we bought this lighter color tablecloth for the kitchen. Unfortunately, we read the morning paper on it and the ink stained one side of the table. I tried cleaning it, but the dark shadow is still there.
Therefore, we're planning to get another one.

I spotted this new pattern at Bed, Bath and Beyond so I'd like to use it to replace the one on the kitchen table.

No, it's not terribly cheap. That's why I'm waiting for the 20% off coupon that they send every so often.
Art thinks we can use the old one longer, but well....maybe it's because it's spring, but I'd like a little change to our environment. He should be happy I'm not moving the furniture around. Don't you think?

I am thinking that you need to look for one that is black and white, and then you could read your newspaper!

DeleteI just put a plastic table cloth on our patio table and it looks so much better! Also cleaning/washing off the patio-seems like spring or summer cleaning!

ReplyDeleteI don't usually use tablecloths,. but when Hubby hosted a big group for poker a couple of years ago and wanted to use the dining room table I went to the fabric store and bought a length of flannel-backed vinyl. It doesn't need to be hemmed, so I straightened the crooked cutting edges and he was good to go.
ReplyDeleteBTW-Did you know that B,B,&B stores (at least the ones around here) will accept their expired coupons. You can also find them online.
I like to rearrange and change things up sometimes. My husband--let's just say change is not in his nature. I sometimes amuse myself by slightly adjusting the angle of his chair and then timing how long it takes him to return it to original position. I have not bought a table cloth in a long time--now I have an excuse to look for something new.

ReplyDeleteWe use real fabric place mats and napkins. Nothing fancy like my mother used, but solid colors that go with the dishes. :) I like that BB&B cloth. :)
I get those 20% off coupons in the mail and in my email box sometimes. I recently went to BB&B to look for a bread slicer, no luck. Macy's no luck. Amazon has it but I wanted to avoid buying more stuff just to get free shipping.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried cleaning with thinner? or rubbing alcohol? After all else fails you could cut up the tablecloth into shelf liners (think recycle)!! Good for you to wait for a discount.

ReplyDeleteI did a double-take on your kitchen tablecloth. It's the same one we have, identical design. As yet we have had no problems with non-removable stains but I've told Gregg he isn't allowed to put his newspaper on there anymore ;) I was also thinking of getting a new one because like you a want a change.

ReplyDeleteI use oil cloth on the patio tables, but inside we use place mats on the old oak kitchen table when we eat, then take them off. My dining room table folds down to a very small size and is only set up and covered when we are using it.

ReplyDeleteI like the heavy oil-cloth style table cloth – I find them in markets in France, they sell them by the yard and they have so many styles. The one I purchase here don’t last very long unfortunately. I like the tablecloth you wish to buy, the patter is pretty.
