I still can't believe it's 2015!
2014 was a year filled with adventure, great happiness, a family reunion, fun with friends, lots of travel and then sadness.
2015 is a clean slate. My traveling husband has already planned trips, changed his mind, planned more trips and solidified a couple.
Mom never asks to go on a trip. She keeps telling us she's too old. However, last year for the first time she said she would like to see the Northwest again and Canada. We were pretty darn shocked.
She wants to see Butchart Gardens again.
She wants to see the Skagit Valley tulips again.
Although Art was worried that she might be disappointed if we go again, we're going to take her. We'll keep our fingers crossed that we will go just at the right time again. We'll hope that the weather will be perfect again and that our health will be up for the travel.
This won't be her last trip. We have another one planned for 2016, but don't tell her yet.

Do you ever get a chance to unpack your bags?
ReplyDeleteWe just wore out two suitcases and a carry-on. We did replace them so we're good to go. :-)
Deletehow wonderful! i can't wait to go on more of your trips!
ReplyDeleteYour mom is so lucky to have you and Art!
ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful that you take Mom along on your trips to get a chance to see the world. You are traveling folks, for sure. We have friends who have many trips planned in advance.
ReplyDeletetraveling keeps you young. I'm taking a cruise to Alaska with my son and family next August to celebrate my 75th birthday!
ReplyDeleteAh, happy traveling!! Always the best!! If you get back to the northwest and near Portland I would love to have a chance to meet you and Art and your Mom!!! What fun that would be!! Hope you have a lovely weekend!!
ReplyDeleteFingers and toes crossed. You are going to have a great time.
ReplyDeleteWe spend a fair amount of time in the Northwest. Maybe we could coordinate a meet-up somewhere next spring or summer. I'd love to meet your mother!
ReplyDeleteFor me the hardest part of travel is to be crammed in an airplane seat. I just hate it. There's much to see In B.C.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion travelling is very important part of our life. Just I love travelling like me. Life is endless journey.. Greetings from Europe..
ReplyDeleteGlad you are thinking North America. Out of country these days can be scary.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are so good to your mom. And that she is still able to travel with you. While my mom was here with me for two weeks at Christmas I tried to take her on lots of little day trips and she enjoyed it so much. It's something she can't really do for herself anymore at 88 but she loves to get out and see things. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIf you get to the Tulip Festival, I'll go there and we'll have lunch somewhere! You all three look photoshopped into the tulip fields, BTW. You sure you didn't do that? :-)
ReplyDeleteNo, it's not retouched at all. However, now that I look at it, I can see why you thought so.
DeleteWe will be making a scheduled stop with Linda because she offered to take us around during our last trip and we couldn't manage it then. We were staying with good friends in Silverdale. I'll let you know when we plan to be at Skagit Valley. Do you know a good place for lunch?
We're thinking of doing Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park. Is there a better drive to take mom that wouldn't require an uphill climb on foot that has some scenic views? She can't walk very far.
Not only is it already 2015 - the new year is already 16 days old - isn't it crazy how fast time moves??
ReplyDeleteIt's so amazing and wonderful that you're taking your mom on the trip she was wishing for. I can't wait to read about it :)
Mom is such a gamer!
ReplyDeleteGoing back somewhere is never quite the same, but it can be differently wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels for you'll in the future
ReplyDeleteYour mom is precious. happy travels to you all.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and happy new year.
ReplyDeleteIts great that you had such a fantastic 2014!
You do a lot of travelling however do you manage it all?
Its good that you give mom what she wants, you are a good daughter.
stay blessed.
Nice to have your children along on a trip. Hope your Mom stays in the peak of health. I enjoy reading about your Mom, hope you don't mind sharing?
ReplyDeleteI love sharing her. At 85, we do have to always be aware that her health is something to keep an eye on. We don't want to overtax her strength. I wish our kids could be with us, but they will be too busy at this time of year.
DeleteIf I ever decide to travel, you shall be my one and only consultant. How fun that your mother is going too.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Butchart Gardens and found it to full of beautiful flowers. Good to know that you are taking your mother there again.
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! I would love to see Butchart Gardens again. I love the Northwest. Great photos! Thanks for joining in my guessing game. I have the answer up now.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are lucky, you always have a trip or two to look forward to. Good onya.
