I still can't believe it's 2015!
2014 was a year filled with adventure, great happiness, a family reunion, fun with friends, lots of travel and then sadness.
2015 is a clean slate. My traveling husband has already planned trips, changed his mind, planned more trips and solidified a couple.
Mom never asks to go on a trip. She keeps telling us she's too old. However, last year for the first time she said she would like to see the Northwest again and Canada. We were pretty darn shocked.
She wants to see Butchart Gardens again.
She wants to see the Skagit Valley tulips again.
Although Art was worried that she might be disappointed if we go again, we're going to take her. We'll keep our fingers crossed that we will go just at the right time again. We'll hope that the weather will be perfect again and that our health will be up for the travel.
This won't be her last trip. We have another one planned for 2016, but don't tell her yet.

ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful that you take Mom along on your trips to get a chance to see the world. You are traveling folks, for sure. We have friends who have many trips planned in advance.

ReplyDeleteI love that you are so good to your mom. And that she is still able to travel with you. While my mom was here with me for two weeks at Christmas I tried to take her on lots of little day trips and she enjoyed it so much. It's something she can't really do for herself anymore at 88 but she loves to get out and see things. Have a great weekend.

DeleteWe will be making a scheduled stop with Linda because she offered to take us around during our last trip and we couldn't manage it then. We were staying with good friends in Silverdale. I'll let you know when we plan to be at Skagit Valley. Do you know a good place for lunch?
We're thinking of doing Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park. Is there a better drive to take mom that wouldn't require an uphill climb on foot that has some scenic views? She can't walk very far.
Not only is it already 2015 - the new year is already 16 days old - isn't it crazy how fast time moves??

ReplyDeleteI love sharing her. At 85, we do have to always be aware that her health is something to keep an eye on. We don't want to overtax her strength. I wish our kids could be with us, but they will be too busy at this time of year.
