This is the year that Art figured he would try to finish the baseboards around the house. We began this project in 2006. It's hard to believe that it's been 9 years since we actually began this renovation project.
With so many things that have taken up our time, it's been hard for Art to concentrate on finishing everything. Still... it's been a challenging retirement project that is always waiting for him.
The hard thing about doing the baseboards is making sure he doesn't inadvertently hit a pipe. He also needs to make sure he hits a stud on which to attach the baseboards.
The problem in this guestroom is that we (ummm... me actually) forgot to carefully mark where everything was. I did the rest of the house, but somehow missed big portions of this room.
We have a friend arriving this month and we wanted at least this room to look nice.
Luckily, I did take pictures of all the walls before the dry walls were hung so we could approximate where the pipes and studs were if I forgot to mark them.
It does amaze me that we've done so much work with the help of my brother, cousins, uncle and friends to get the house project nearly completed. We will always be grateful for all they've done for us. By 2016... maybe it will be completed.

And here's the room with the baseboards that Art installed and I caulked and painted.
As I finished painting the last board Art said, "I hate to tell you, but this is the smallest room. We have two more rooms and two bathrooms to finish."
OK...
So maybe we'll finish in 2016.

ReplyDeleteGreat job! And very nice room! My husband removed part of baseboards because he wanted to move one big bulky furniture out of a room and it was so tight...unfortunately didn't work. How did we put the furniture in the first place? After more than an hour of trying, my husband saw the furniture in half and solved the problem...I was plan to sell in Craig list but whatever...
