One of the few things that Art and I disagree on is how much light is necessary for a room.
There are mornings when he'll be reading the newspaper in the kitchen with just the one kitchen sink light on. I come down later and turn on three more.
We did buy some LED lights during the Black Friday sales and replaced the CFLs in most of our rooms. I've been pleased with the added non flickering light.
However, the wonderfully bright bathroom bothered him even though I was happy.
So what did he do?
He bought a dimmer switch!
Now when he goes to the bathroom, he can turn the light on low.
When I go in, I make it bright.
Yay! Our marriage is saved!
Granted, with bright lights the wrinkles are more visible.
Hmmmm...

This made me laugh, because we also disagree about the right amount of light. I'm the low light person, and my guy even goes so far as to remove the fixtures on the lights so they produce more light. He's only allowed to do that in his own room, however. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm alone so I put the lights however I want. :)
ReplyDeleteYou might go to your ophthalmologists and have him check your eyes. I too need volumes of bright light when G does not.
ReplyDeletefunny but true-great solution dimmer switch unless you are both in the same area...lol!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to side with you on the more light the better, Kay. It would be nice if there were some kind of those switches for other problems in marriage. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to have a handyman around the house, you are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteYou have two vanities! Cool!
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and keep bragging about what a genius your husband is!
ReplyDeleteGranted, he's not very good when it comes to spelling. LOL
DeleteCatching up to you. I am also behind on everything but enjoying the season anyway. I liked those t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteIf I don't get back here, I want to be sure you know I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. (Even with all the fireworks.)
I have a dimmer switch on my dining room lights but it does not seem to work and I really would like to be able to dim the lights sometimes. Is Art planning a trip to Vermont, maybe late spring?
ReplyDeleteFor one thing, you have to make sure the bulbs that you have in the light fixture is of the dimmable variety. Many of the CFLs are not dimmable. If you have LEDs, you have to make sure you have the correct type of dimmer switch. I know, I know. It makes my head spin.
DeleteI love the bright new lights. I'll never miss the spinach in my teeth.
ReplyDeleteWrinkles , schminkles! Who cares about wrinkles? We all experience some differences and learn to live with them.
ReplyDeleteI keep CFLs in my fan in the bedroom as if I have to wake up early, the light is dim at first. They don't really get that energy until they get real heat, which gives my eyes time to adjust. I do love my LEDs.
ReplyDeleteA dimmer switch is a great solution. Everybody's happy!
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh my..... We need to do that here..
ReplyDeleteArt is smart. Kay, we earned our wrinkles. We just need to change the concept of the ideal beauty being tall, thin, and young to average height, happy body, and wrinkles are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe have installed LED lights everywhere. Every little bit helps. Dianne
ReplyDeleteMy problem now is what to do with all the EXTRA CFL bulbs I have.
DeleteYou are so much fun! My parents were a hoot, with dim 40W lights. They couldn't see.
ReplyDeleteI'm like your husband. When we check into some hotels they will have 3 or 4 bright light bulbs above the bathroom sink. So what do I do? I unscrew 3 of them. So it's not so bright haha
ReplyDeleteOh my! That is too funny! I'm quite happy with the bright lights. :-) I won't tell Art what you do though. It might give him ideas.
