I had a Kindle cable that would occasionally drop behind my nightstand. I saw on a forwarded mail that you could use binder clips to hold cables up on desks so they wouldn't fall. Unfortunately, if you don't have a lip on your desk, you can't attach a binder clip.
We were at the store recently and I saw these cute cable drops. I decided to attach it to the back on my nightstand where you can't see it but it could hold up my Kindle charger cable. It promptly fell down because the glue on the cable drop wouldn't stick to wood. Luckily there was a little area with a metal label that I could try sticking the cable drop on. Hope it holds. We'll see.
POSTSCRIPT:
It's holding very well now! Otherwise, I would have used DJan's idea of the gorilla glue.
Although we bought ours at the Navy Exchange you can get them at Best Buy or on Amazon. There were two sizes available and we chose the smaller one which was perfect for our Kindles, iPhone and iPad wires.

ReplyDeleteI am always taking my chargers with if I travel over the weekend on on a longer trip, so not sure this would be convenient for me. My cables do not drop behind the end table and are long enough to rest there.

ReplyDeleteYes, I use those little clamps near my computer for the essential cables. They sure are useful.

ReplyDeleteThis is a good idea. I keep my cables on the floor because, well, they drop. I didn't realise it was possible to have them at adult human height.

ReplyDeleteI keep my cables on the floor in a basket and pull them out as needed. As long as they drop into the basket when I am done, it doesn't bother me.
ReplyDeleteThere is a product from a young woman in England called "Sugru". It looks like polymer clay in small air tight packages. I condition it by rolling and kneading a little, and then form it into whatever shape for whatever purpose, and it sticks to ANYthing. Rocks, drywall, glass, wood, etc. It cures and hardens to a rubber like consistency in hours. It also removes easily enough. It isn't cheap but it is so versatile with a killer website Sugru.com.

ReplyDeleteThe few I have are kept in plastic bags that are use labeled and I only pull them out when necessary. Guess I don't have that many.

ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me about those clips I recalled having seen somewhere some time ago and made a mental note to use. Unfortunately, due to what I reluctantly attribute to aging, my mental notes had begun to require a written back-up support system, so I had forgotten all about them.
