Fit(bit) to BE Tied!

Aggravation!

I wrote earlier about my Fitbit HR exercise, sleep tracker that I liked using but was coming apart at the wristband and then stopped working all together. Since it was about a year and a half old, it was past the warranty period by about 6 months.

Since they no longer sell the HR, Fitbit offered the Charge 2 at 25% off.

After a bit of pondering, I bought it in May.

It was working great for a while. Then it started being a bit quirky. The sleep recording on the Charge two is a lot more sophisticated.

On the left you can see how the Charge 2 will give you details on REM, Light and Deep Sleep. On the right is what the HR used to give. The Charge 2 reverted to that same sort of recording.

And then one day, it stopped giving me the sleep recording altogether.

I reset the Charge 2 as recommended and it worked once.

The following day, it once more did not record my sleep.

So I wrote Fitbit since my Charge 2 was only a little over 2 months old this time and well within warranty.

POSTSCRIPT 1:

Fitbit apologized kindly and said they will be sending me a replacement tracker.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it lasts longer than my other two.

POSTSCRIPT 2:

OK...

I got the new replacement Charge 2. It arrived very quickly. After three days it's working properly except for one annoying thing.

Sigh...

The display is pink. What the heck? I can read it, but it's not quite as easy to see against the black.

Sigh...

We've looked online and apparently other people have complained about the same thing. Some say the display is blue also.

Sigh...

ALSO... Arrrghhh.... It's doing the same incorrect sleep graph and if you look on Friday it says I walked up 33 floors. Then on Saturday, it gave me one floor. Come on! My average is about 10 floors a day because I live on the 2nd floor.

POSTSCRIPT 3:

Sigh.... I've written to Fitbit again and they are sending me yet another replacement. Needless to say, I'm losing confidence in their product.

  1. That's too bad Kay. My daughter and I did fitbit for awhile until the novelty wore off. I walk regularly anyway so I figured I didn't really need it.

  2. That must be frustrating, not to have a product work as it should. But hopefully they will send you a replacement that ticks all the boxes. Warm greetings and nice week!

  4. I used a fitbit for about four months and then lost it and decided not to replace. It was useful and showed me I need to up my game.

  5. that sucks! I read a lot about problems with the 2 models I was slightly interested in, so I decided to pass...

  6. Maybe you need to let go of FitBit. You know you are doing all the right things....but not 33 stories of climbing. Do you have a store in town that carries them with an actual person to talk to? Me I am off to the gym.

  7. George and I have had our FITBITS for a few years with NO PROBLEMS... I have the HR ---so when I replace it, I think I'll enjoy the Charge 2 (with more info about my sleep)...

There are some irritating things about wearing it on my wrist.. Wish I had one that I could wear on my ankle. I think it would be more accurate... When I push a grocery cart, I get very few steps.... OR--when I'm 'shuffling' instead of actually taking steps, I don't get the correct steps... OR---when I'm moving around working in the yard (again--shuffling) --I don't get the correct steps.... BUT---I still enjoy it OVERALL --and it makes me think to keep moving. I love the part where I need to make sure I get 250 steps each hour during the daytime... That gets me up from my computer more often... ha

George SWEARS by his Apple Watch ---and it does alot of different things from what the FITBIT does...

Hope you get a FITBIT that will work for you.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

    1. The problem with the Apple Watch (aside from the cost) is that it's so big on our skinny wrists.

  8. Goodness, here I thought they were the Cadillac of fitness bands. You convinced me to get the Garmin when you did your first post as it was your granddaughter's choice. It was cheaper I have really enjoyed it and so far since Sept--flawless. It is waterproof and doesn't need charging (just change the battery once a year) which I love. I never take it off. Good luck.

    1. Sigh... If this replacement doesn't work, I think I'll try Garmin next too.

  9. I have never had a twinge of desire for a fitbit or like gadget. I don't really understand what they are for, but then I don't even have a watch.

  10. I think they depend on people not making a complaint. The thing doesn't work and people throw it away.

  11. Sorry you are having such trouble. I don't have a fitbit and don't want one. I have a good pedometer if I want to know distance or how many steps. I have a watch and a clock by my bedside. I can tell if I slept soundly or not. Much of my activity involves arm movement that is not steps, like gardening, and the fitbit works on arm movement.

  12. That's too bad, I'm sorry you've had to deal with all the inconvenience. Hope the one they send this time works well.

  13. Interesting to learn of your experience. Hadn't seriously considered getting one of those type gadgets as had actually purchased a pedometer years ago. Never used it but have thought of doing so recently, but I can't find where I carefully put it. Know I need more steps and other exercise. Would be curious about sleep stages on Fidbit so will be curious to know how this works out for you.

  14. I only really care about counting my steps, and my phone does that just fine, as long as I have it on me. I had a Fitbit, a cheap one, for awhile but when the battery died, I stopped using it. My sister has one that does what you want and it seems to work fine. :-)
