One of the things I love about Japan is their clean toilets. Whenever I've talked to people who have gone to Japan they'll mention that one of their favorite things about Japan (after the food) is the convenient FREE toilets you can find just about everywhere.
The toilet seat cleaner is such a great idea. You get a little toilet paper, spray the disinfectant on it and then wipe the toilet seat before sitting down. Yes, I know guys don't have to worry about this as much as the ladies.
Not all toilets are quite as equipped as this, but I'm guessing 99 percent of them come with a bidet washlet.
At many places we saw mini urinals in the women's bathroom as well as a sink lowered to child size use.
And another reason why people love going to Japan... courtesy. Coming from Hawaii where people tend to smile a lot and treat others kindly most of the time, we find it comfortable going to Japan where visitors are welcomed politely.

I agree, although I’ve never been to japan it is a country I admire and have had a strong fascination with. I have dear friends that live there and our family have learned so much through their visits here to Canada and our continued interaction, clean toilets are a wonderful tribute , it shows the respect of the people. We would do well to adapt their strong sense of cleanliness and order!

ReplyDeleteI remember my trip to JApan in 2003 to pick up my son after his mission to hiroshima and being so impressed with the clean toilets...and the people too.

ReplyDeleteI see they also have handrails installed but a young gal like you wouldn't notice those.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the picture of a person squatting over the toilet instead of sitting on it. In China, most of the toilets you need to squat over. And nowhere near as clean as these are, ever! :-)

ReplyDeleteMy SIL took a trip, and took photos of all the toilets. Needless to say I didn't put it in the book I made for them.
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter tells a funny story about a bidet and a face wash in Europe. I've often thought I wanted one here, but we went for a basic model.
With my baby-sized bladder, I think I'd wet my pants before I could get done reading all of the instructions! At least I've seen the instructions here, in case I ever see such a set-up. Linda in Kansas
