House Project: Adding More Towel Bars

Our children are arriving with their families and we'll be having a full house for a month. With ten people in the house, there will be lots more wet towels to hang.

We'd already equipped our guest bathroom with three towel bars but our two little grandsons will be using our bathroom. So we figured we could use another bar.

Art removed the single bar which left holes in the wall. I filled them in with plaster.

We took off the one by the window, raised the towel bar on the left of the shower and installed the matching one from the window side.

We bought another towel  bar to put under the window that wasn't a true match (don't look too closely please) and then patched that wall a bit.

Thank goodness, I kept small jars of paints for each room when we painted them 12 years ago. I added a little layer of water in each one so they wouldn't totally dry out.

I'm pleased to say I don't think anybody would notice my patch jobs.

  5. How nice to have your family together for a month. Are those in the working world getting a month off or telecommuting? We have a family vacation set for a week but my one son in law just started a new job so will likely not get the entire week off.

  7. You guys are so organized! Enjoy the extra towels hanging around because the kids that use them grow up way too fast.

  9. Nice job! I think you and Art are a great team. I would never have thought about saving little paint cans like that, Kay. It sounds like it will be a fun filled time. :-)

  11. We stacked towel bars for our kids/grand kids too, but I have never been so organized as to save paint samples for each room. You and Art think of everything.

  12. So glad the family gets to come visit you. What a wonderful time you'll have! LOVE the assortment of paint jars. I dread opening the big 5 gallon buckets of matching paint that came with my newly-painted apartment when I moved in. Guess I'll get a set of jars and create some usable smaller amounts!
