Since hair salons have been closed for several months, some of my friends have been posting photos of haircuts they've given themselves and their spouses.
Frankly, I think they've done a fabulous job. In fact, one friend said she thinks she'll cut her own hair from now on just as I do.
I hadn't cut everybody's hair for a couple of months because let's face it, who sees us?
We don't go shopping very often and we're always wearing masks. Nobody knows who we are. I think. So what does it matter?
However, since everybody was posting photos of their haircuts, it motivated us to do the same.
Darn! I should have done a Before and After. I shall have to leave it to your imagination.
I've heard that barber shops and hair salons are now pretty booked since the state is gradually opening up. I did see a lady recently (with a mask mind you) who obviously had just had her hair done. She looked beautiful.... mask and all... whoever she was!

Sue is my barber, and I am just about due for another cut.
ReplyDeleteI don't know when Sue will see her hairdresser since she can't stand wearing a mask. Two minutes and she's done.
You do a great job. I cannot cut a piece of paper in a straight line. No one would let me near their head with a pair of scissors in my hand, and that "no one" includes myself. My hair has gotten long enough for a ponytail so that works for me. I got a haircut in late January.
ReplyDeleteYou all look fabulous, as usual.
ReplyDeleteI have my hair stuff budgeted for every 3 months. Been going to the same gal for 44 years! We both wore masks last week.
As my Dad said during national crises: "the grass keeps growing, and the babies keep being born..."

All three of you look great Kay, good job! I finally got my own cut a couple weeks ago (from my gal barber Rose who's been cutting it for 25 years), as glad as I was to get it, I learned a good lesson--I don't NEED to get a cut every 3 weeks, I can probably stretch it out to 5-6 weeks instead :)
ReplyDeleteYou all look great!
ReplyDeleteI've cut my hair forever except when it was super short, which I'm growing out to graze the top of my shoulders. I even used to color my own hair, back when I was still doing that. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWell done! I'm afraid I'll be wearing my hair in a French Twist as I did about 50 years ago by the time )if ever) this is over.
ReplyDeleteYou do good work. I am this close to cutting my own. My shop hasn't opened yet and hate to try a new beautician.
ReplyDeleteI went to a walk-in salon the week after things opened up here. They had a great system-sign in online, show up at appointment time. Everyone had on a mask, and the stylist's station had large partitions between them.
ReplyDeletei quit going for haircut$ over 20 years ago. Not long after, a (nosey biddy) co-worker had remarked that long hair made me "look old." i told her, "i look old, because i am old." (Was in my early 40s at the time - but per that false god, evolution, if we're over 40, our shelf-life is done). Anyway, that shut her up.
ReplyDeleteI have not tried to cut my hair and it really needs it. I'm almost all grey now. You guys look great.
ReplyDeletegood for you, saving lots of money. My hubby cuts his own hair but I treat myself to the salon. lol!
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite a time here, too.
ReplyDeleteI've done my own. The waiting lists are pretty long.
Good for you!
I think you all look good.
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeful that hairdressers may be open early July … or is it wishful thinking!
All the best Jan
they say gray is the new blonde!! i have a hair appointment one week from today, i can hardly wait!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for doing haircuts at your place. We can get haircuts here but I'm not going yet.
ReplyDeleteYour haircuts look great. I'd been growing my bangs out last summer and after the "plague" struck I decided to just let it grow out. I'm hoping for a small pony some time in the future. When I was a broke student I began cut my own hair by scissoring off everything at the length of my index finger. It worked pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI was desperate for a haircut once the salons opened up. I left two messages for my usual hairdresser and when she didn't respond, I went over there. Only one person was allowed inside at a time, and three people were waiting outside. She showed me where my name was on the list of people to call back! Finally a few days later I gut a cut. I feel fine now. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could cut my own hair. It sure needs it. I texted my hairdresser to get on the wait list, but she responded that they are not yet opening their shop and don't know when they will feel safe enough to do so. Oh well. There are worse things than shaggy hair.
ReplyDeleteI have my second haircut since lock down...tomorrow at two.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! My hair is so much longer and very uneven but I don't care. As long as we have to wear masks, I feel invisible.
ReplyDeleteI've been cutting my husband's hair through the lock down, but he has very little hair and we have a hair buzzer. My son attempted to cut his young son's hair and the results were not as good. My daughter in law put a picture of my son doing the haircut to the music of "beauty school dropout"
