I usually carry my trusty medium/small bulging backpack whenever I leave the house. It has EVERYTHING I could possibly need from coupon holder, glasses, keys, tissue, sanitizers, hand wipes, pocket calendar, notepad, pens, pencils, cell phone, any medication I might ever need, nylon socks (Who knows when I might buy shoes?) folded shopping bags, wallet, to lots more.
Nowadays, when I leave the house, this is what I carry.
It's a small thermal lunch bag with a long shoulder strap. I don't know where I got it from. Perhaps one of my students gave it to me and I've kept it all these years without using it. I have no idea.
So all I carry now are my mask, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, glasses, keys and cellphone. That's it.
It's my new COVID-19 way of life.
Have you changed what you carry when you leave the house?

That looks like a good bag of things, and I like your mask :) Seeing this makes me miss my shoulder bag I took to work every day. Carried a notebook, pens, umbrella, "work wallet" (slimmer version of regular wallet), folding umbrella, bottle water, couple breakfast bars, cellphone, MP3 player, paperback book. It was tough to give up when I retired in 2015.
ReplyDeleteI just saw the contents of your work bag. It sure looks like what I would have carried.
DeleteInteresting set of supplies: funny, even I don't buy shoes very often. But you're organized and prepared.
ReplyDeleteI've kept my same purse (with it's new "Big Skinny" wallet that you suggested in a blog,) but I have my work masks and my non-work masks. I hang my non-work masks on a hook inside the front door, so I grab it and put it on when I leave my apartment. I set that one in my car while driving. I've got spare paper masks in my purse and car's glove box. Just yesterday, I put a little box in my car of sanitizer and paper towels to wipe me or car parts when I re-enter my car.
Hope a vaccine is properly tested works when it's available cuz I don't prefer "6-foot hugs."

i carry the same bag i have always carried, it is leather, and i have only added a few supplies. we have not been out much, when we go out, it's only for a walk or bike ride!!! we have had all of our food and groceries delivered and that has worked out very well!!
ReplyDeleteDang, this is the second blog where I have gotten the sad faced page with the corner turned down indicating nothing went through. Anyway, I usually travel light and have only added the face mask and hand sanitizer to the bag.
ReplyDeleteI don't go out much right now but I've been just taking a mask, keys, license and debit card in pocket, and sanitizer wipes in glove box. Oh, and a list other wise the rare trips out would not go so well hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI really haven't left the house! I can't drive easily. JB does all the groceries and shopping. FOr this, I am grateful.
ReplyDeleteI have a Covid19 bag as well, containing cloth/disposable masks, hand wipes, sanitizer. I also have a covered pail lined with a garbage bag to contain used wipes & masks. It's like packing the diaper bag again!
ReplyDeleteI no longer take a purse, but rather put everything in pockets. I know just how many stops I will make so I have a wipe for each stop. I have my phone, credit card, and driver's license, and keys. That's it. I tie my mask on before I leave the house so I only have to lift it and make the final tie when I get to my destination.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to the grocery store I just take my phone, which doesn't leave my back pocket, and my credit card, since Tom drives. I keep a face-mask in the car and bring latex gloves. Otherwise I take my small wallet in my pocket to go to do other shopping. When I go for a longer trip, for instance garden touring, I take my small purse, but leave it locked in the car except for my phone and wallet. I have a tiny purse for when it gets hot and I have fewer pockets.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made changes except I do carry my spray bottle of hand sanitizer because I don't like the gel hand sanitizers that many places ask you to use (Ben Franklin for example). They are too sticky for me.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I want to change is my handbag. It is a green floral leather purse that a friend gave me. I love it but it really doesn't go with my masks, which are blue and white yukata fabrics. I will switch to a blue bag soon or something less showy.
What I take depends on how I'm getting to my destination. My regular purse has a mask in it so I don't forget. If I'm walking I'll put cell phone, keys, chapstick, and mask if necessary in my pockets or bring a tiny purse that's just big enough for charge cards and cash. If I'm riding my bike I'll put the tiny purse and anything else I need in a small drawstring backpack.
ReplyDeleteI have a "day bag" backpack that doubles as my purse. I've added hand sanitizer and spare masks, but otherwise it's the same as it's always been. :-)
ReplyDeletegood point I carry a lot less just a hip pack no bag
ReplyDeleteActually, no I've not changed what I carry. My friends have, however.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I've changed life. It just isn't happening other than groceries.
ReplyDeletewell I've definitely added hand sanitizer and a mask...luckily they aren't too heavy!
