Huuuge sigh of relief!
Thank you everyone for your well wishes.
I was really nervous this time, but Art was quite calm. He told me in the afternoon that he thought it would veer north. I told him he would be sorry to be proven wrong.
OK...
So he was right this time.
And even though I have to endure a bit of gloating, I am extremely relieved.
Extremely.
And now I've got to water the plants with all the water I've saved in plastic bottles. Or we could use it to do the laundry like we did the last time a hurricane passed by.
We were lucky this time, but it's only the start of the hurricane season.
My cousins on Kauai have told me what it was like with category 4 Hurricane Iniki. I am really hoping we don't have to experience what they did.

ReplyDeleteI was just outside a minute ago and the winds were so strong it pushed me. And that wasn’t the hurricane. I cringe to think how much worse it would have been with 90 mph winds.
DeleteI am honestly shocked but happy, was watching 'Hawaii News Now' for several hours yesterday and the last I saw, you guys were dead center in its path. My gosh, what a miracle! Relieved & happy for you guys, Kay!

ReplyDeleteBy a cat's whisker! You know how when something is just out of reach but you can ALMOST touch it? hat's how close destructive winds and rain were to us on Oahu. Even in a pandemic, one can feel relief! I imagine how GREAT we will all feel if we all VOTE!!!

ReplyDeleteWe were super fortunate that it was a non-event. I was also very worried because I knew how bad Hurricane Iniki was on Kauai - though a hurricane 4 is much more destructive than a hurricane 1 - if it hit Honolulu with our dense population, we might be in major trouble.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit upset at "Beat of Hawaii" calling it a wrong forecast and its cost to Hawaiian Airlines. Easy to point fingers after the fact, but we all needed to be on guard, and we were.
Phew! Definitely a Huuuge sigh of relief!
