iPad Holder for ZOOMing

I wrote a blog post a while ago about the lengths I went through to make an iPad holder for our ZOOM calls with the kids/grandkids.

I used an old shoe box and made this cardboard holder which worked pretty well.

I'd looked online and saw adequate iPad holders on Amazon for $10- $20. Then there were those that were much, much, much more expensive.

My cardboard iPad holder is not adjustable, but it was more of less OK and I was more or less satisfied.

A couple of months later, my daughter said she was surprised to find an iPad holder at an Asian discount store called Hello Tokyo in Niles, Illinois that she rarely goes to but had to stop by to see what they had on the way home from some distant outing. Everything at that store is $2.

We have one of those discount stores in Hawaii called Daiso. Almost everything in the store is $1.50 and you can't help but buy something you might never use when you go there. Whenever local people go on tours to Japan, they would invariably stop at all the Daisos they can find in what seems like every city. There's also Seria and a number of others that I can't remember the name of.

Well... anyway, I was really envious of Tiffany's adjustable iPad stand. Just to show you what a wonderful daughter I have, this is what we found in the next flat rate box she sent us.

And guess what. It works perfectly!

This might make me want to take a trip to our Daiso store here in Hawaii.

  1. My ipad holder is also a keyboard, which I love when I need to type. It also stands the device up appropriate when I am using it and not typing. It has been used so thoroughly that the container sometimes loosens its grip on the ipad. I probably will get a new one at some point because I really like having the keyboard.

  2. I may be one of the few people who doesn't have an iPad or tablet. I do have a convertible
laptop that makes it's own tripod for standing up at a desired angle.
There seems to be a gadget for everything now, and you or someone in your family will find it.

  4. You do have a thoughtful daughter Kay, hmm those do look helpful. I wonder if they'd hold a 10" tablet?

  5. I have an iPad cover that also works as an adjustable stand. I really like it, but the sweet gift from your daughter is perfect! :-)

  6. That looks a lot like holders I've used for displaying plates and pictures that didn't have stands on the back. How nice of Tiffany.

  7. I bought a nice holder from IKEA, but it doesn't fold down as nicely as I bet yours does.

  9. Don't have an Ipad but if I did, that looks like it really works and the price is right. Your daughter is a keeper. I'm sure it cost more to ship than to buy.

    1. Tiffany always has a flat rate box open to put things in that we might like. When it's full, she sends it to us. She does this every couple of months. We do the same thing for both kids. It's fun to do and receive.

  10. You raised your kids right when they do things like that for you later in life! I am now repaying some of my "debts" by improving my dad's life when I can, mostly getting him into the smartphone age these days.

My wife has a iPad cover with a lid that folds back and props up the iPad at a few different angles. We also have one of those things like what your daughter got but our problem is we can never find it when needed.

    1. The town Daiso was out of iPad stands. However, I found some dinosaur puzzle stickers that your grandsons might enjoy. 4 different dinosaurs. I can mail them to you if you don't find them at your Daiso.

    2. Thank you! I shall check it out. However, their obsession with dinosaurs have their house full of dinosaur toys, clothing, books, etc. I need to introduce them to something else. LOL
