Three of the photo albums we made for mom of our trips together to Japan and Canada were deteriorating. It's amazing how certain plastics tend to deteriorate in Hawaii.
I was avoiding going out prior to our overseas trip so I decided to order three new 2 inch Avery binders from Amazon.
What a shock to receive three much too big 3 inch binders instead a few days later. One of them also had a tiny chip in it.I chatted with the Amazon helpline person and he told me to just keep/donate or give away the binders and they would send me the correct replacements I ordered.
So I waited and a few days later, I got another big box with binders in it. BUT, again... they were 3 inch binders!!! What the heck!
I chatted with another Helpline person and they told me that the 2 inch binders probably weren't available so they would just send me a refund. So now I had six 3 inch binders. 🙄
Luckily, I have a friend who can use a couple so he will get it. I'll keep a couple for our medical information and I'll find a friend or relative who can use one too.
But now I guess we'll have to go shopping for actual 2 inch binders when we get back from our trip.
This is the 2nd mistake Amazon has made in just a few days. What is going on?
The binders thing is pretty out there, but you've inspired me to do a blog about my recent Amazon experience. Let's just say it gets tasty. 😋
ReplyDeleteI’ve had a few mistakes from time to time but thus far, they have always made things right.
ReplyDeleteDon recently ordered two pairs of grey pajama pants, size large. He got one grey pair, size large, and one black pair, size extra large. He sent the black pair back and had the replacement the next day. Personally, I far prefer shopping in an actual store but around here they are closing down like crazy.
ReplyDeleteI guess they are desperate to fill orders, come hell or high water!
ReplyDelete(ツ) from Jenn Jilks , ON, Canada!
Amazon is notorious for how badly they treat their workers. The people in those warehouses are desperately overworked and overstressed, and management policies are frankly abusive. That's why I don't do business with them any more. And, such conditions make it all the more likely that mistakes will happen.
ReplyDeleteAwful on these mistakes, it is like noone cares
ReplyDeleteSo far I haven't had any problems but Infidel makes a good point and one I had read about before.
ReplyDeleteI think they have low inventory on some things and just substitute, thinking that bigger is better. In some cases, that's true but not always.
ReplyDeleteThey have gotten too big and automated. It will be interesting when the Honolulu warehouse construction is completed ($25 million) here. We'll get things in a few hours - hopefully exactly what we ordered.
ReplyDeleteThey definitely have gotten sloppy
ReplyDeleteAt least they have great customer service and they always make things right for the customer! I love that
ReplyDeleteOh dear, sorry you have experienced these problems.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
At least their service is fast. And they seem very accommodating. With shortages of workers and supply chain problems, I think shopping for anything is going to be an adventure for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI avoid dealing with them.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to have no problem substituting when they don't have a product.
ReplyDeleteI bought a new bathrobe from them recently and it came without the belt to close it. I just substituted one I already had. I'm usually happy with what I order from them, but it's not a lot anyway.
ReplyDeleteI suppose they think it is better to err by giving you more than less. 😀
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh! Paul says maybe you should start selling the excess/mistakes on Etsy and make a little extra $$$ for your next trip. Haha
ReplyDeleteYes, supply chain problems. The two inch binders are sitting off LA in a container.
ReplyDeleteI too have noticed the quality is suspect on some items I've ordered off Amazon. Like the flash drives I ordered began failing, causing photos to dissolve, et al. I think it has something to do with disreputable sellers, so I'm careful what I order now. If it's something I can walk into an electronic or stationary store or big box store, I'll do that and take a chance on Amazon only when it's something I can't easily obtain elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteWe order from Amazon about once a month... mostly coffee that we can't find elsewhere. But the few things we have ordered have always been good and come pretty fast, so I can't complain. They have been a blessing during the pandemic. Before that, we hardly ever ordered online. With supplies being backed up and so many things being back ordered these days, it's good to have Amazon.
ReplyDeleteAmazon does mess up all the time it seems. I see it happening with friends on FB.
