Just for fun, I decided to ask ChatGPT how MAGA people can possibly support a braggart like Trump for president. I've asked ALEXA before and she goes dead and doesn't say anything.
But ChatGPT is brave and actually explained it carefully. This is what it said:
“People support politicians for many different reasons, and traits that some voters see as flaws can be viewed differently by others.
For supporters of Donald Trump, some common reasons include:
They agree with his policy positions on issues such as immigration, taxes, trade, or regulation.
They see his self-confidence and frequent self-promotion as signs of strength, assertiveness, or leadership rather than bragging.
They believe he challenges political institutions and norms that they distrust.
They focus more on outcomes they attribute to his administration than on his personal style.
Some view his rhetoric as entertaining, authentic, or preferable to the communication style of traditional politicians.
On the other hand, many critics argue that his tendency to boast, exaggerate accomplishments, or focus attention on himself is a significant negative trait and raises concerns about character and leadership.
Whether someone sees Trump as a confident leader or a braggart often depends on which qualities they value most in a political candidate and how they weigh personality against policy and results.”
It's really nagged at me how anybody I know could possibly think he was good for this country. I guess I understand better now. It doesn't mean I think it's OK... but I understand better why.

Moral, ethics and character do not matter.
ReplyDeleteInteresting explanation. I still want nothing to do with Trumpettes. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: I have a hard time too… but I’m trying to understand.
DeleteI heard somewhere that his followers are not highly educated. 🤷♀️
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: Sigh… I’ve heard that too. I know someone who hires immigrants for cheap labor, but doesn’t want them in the country. It’s nuts.
DeleteSome support his party because they don't like/trust the opposition. Crackers!
ReplyDeleteWell said Chatgpt
ReplyDeleteSome only watch Fox News. They don’t get a true picture of events.
ReplyDeleteKay of Musings: Yup. I’ve got a relative who gets his news from FOX too. Sigh…
DeleteFlawed rationals for supporting this mental incompetent. These are the same folks who don't trust science.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see MAKA - Make America Kind Again.
ReplyDeleteHe hates the same people they do; they feel threatened by people of different races, backgrounds, cultures and religions. They love the entertainment factor and chaos without caring how much it's affecting all of us.
ReplyDeleteWhat Anvilcloud said. Very informative example of how chatgpt is more about paste-pudding than becoming informed.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good explanation and my Trump supporting family members would probably agree with it. It makes it hard since their agreement is as earnest as my disagreement is.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like sitting on two sides of the fence. Trump is divisive He gets people fighting amongst themselves.
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand it. What do they see as an improvement to anything?
ReplyDeleteI do hope you are feeling better. I'm sorry you have been ill.
Kay, I did the same thing... using Gemini AI. I asked how can people want a man who does bad things to run our country? It went into a long explanation which was very informative and did help me understand (not enough, but a little better than before). What it said that helped me is that they don't necessarily support the man himself, but his agenda. Also mentioned a 'tribal' mentality and collateral damage. I worry that so many people as well as the reputation of our country is being hurt... this is where it mentions collateral damage that may be acceptable to some when getting the agenda they want.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting Kay. People will be trying to figure this one out for decades to come. I've heard many of his supporters feel that they have been left behind. Basically, once people's minds have been made up, there's no dissuading them and I think that doesn't just apply to the US. That's human nature around the world.
ReplyDelete"Ditto" what you concluded, Kay . . . I understand better now. It doesn't mean I think it's OK... but I understand better why. Good information, Kay.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a golden age for doing highly tailored research. Like when? I'm wondering something. I just get a briefing from AI and it can get pretty interesting. No, I don't want it to take over the world and all the jobs, but I personally enjoy using AI a lot even to inform how I write my poems. Thanks Kay. I hope you guys have a beautiful weekend
ReplyDeletegood information...i don't discuss politics with anyone, except the hubs, and we are on the same page!! on another note, i can never get to your blog by clicking on your comment. i have to google you and there are a lot of musing blogs. so if i don't stop by, it is probably because i did not have enough time for google and the search. sorry...
ReplyDeleteOh rats! I’m so sorry, Debbie. I’ve been doing this on my ipad from my bed and wasn’t even thinking about how it would make it difficult for blog friends to get back to me.
