Even with the house so altered and in disarray, I thought I was doing quite fine in dealing with the move. Therefore I was surprised that when I went to my kitchen plastic containers drawer to match lids to bottoms, I got very choked up. I normally have the lids and bottoms in two separate drawers but I needed to get the containers ready for sale.
I don't understand it. With the whole house turned completely upside down. It's the silly plastic containers that would cause tears. Go figure.
Ah well...our neighbors, Jiro who is Canadian and Ida who is Albanian are taking us out to lunch for a break today so that's something to savor and enjoy in between setting our house up for the moving sale.
Happy weekend, everybody!
how fun that you had extra space left over, you could have put in your plastic containers and lids too. there's nothing wrong with crying. you've tried to hold it in and it only took a little thing in the kitchen to release it. crying only shows that you have enjoyed your time living in illinois and will miss it all but now it's time for change and new things. cry and celebrate your continuing life...
ReplyDeleteIt is strange what will make us tear up. I remember one time I got all teary eyed when my mom and dad were trading in a car. Yes I am a strange sentimental person.
ReplyDeleteYou have taken the all this in stride. That picture of everything piled up in that one room would send me into a frenzy. You are lucky that you have such good friends and neighbors that take you away from this for a while. Take care. Lisa
I think your carefully organized plastic containers and lids are as deserving of tears as anything else. Your life is going through a drastic change, let the tears flow. Soon they will be happy tears!
ReplyDeleteOkay, my true colours are showing-- the empathetic part of me felt your pain and turmoil-- the pathetic part of me wants to buy all your plastic containers!! Those not so silly containers represent so much of your organized nesting skills!! When is the sale??
ReplyDeleteFunny little things trigger our emotions...
ReplyDeleteSusan, the sale is this coming Friday and Saturday. Get on the airplane! One of the moving guys, Robert is apparently an expert in collectibles. He said, "Are you actually keeping your shoes in that Redwing crock? Do you realize how much it's worth?" Well, I looked it up and it's not all that much from what I can see...But he called our House Sale person and put dibs on some things. We'll see what happens. I'm not sure I want to know.
ReplyDeleteOh Kay, it's hard, hard. Lucky that I live too far away to come to your tantalizing house sale.
ReplyDeleteI have one word for you hun....
ReplyDeleteSTRESS....
For the ironing board cover I used "junky 100% cotton I had". Now I feel less guilty to buy more fabric.
I hope you are finding some time to relax and breathe...
